[2003] Update Unable To Find TableMapping['Table'] Or DataTable 'Table'?

Sep 26, 2008

An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in system.windows.forms.dllerror in line: dbAdp.Update(dbDset) in btnSave_Click, (elseif editflag = true) blockdescription: Update unable to find TableMapping['Table'] or DataTable 'Table'I was also wondering if I could simply use the ExecuteNonQuery for the delete statement, but since I've placed my data in a datarow, I'm not sure if i can actually use it. Any thoughts on this? Btw, this is my first time using a datarow, and I've recently been studying how to use ADO.net.

dr = dbDset.Tables(0).Rows(CurIndex)
dr.Delete()
dbAdp.Update(dbDset.Tables("addresses"))

Unable To Understand Enumerator's Reset's Purpose?

Dec 30, 2009

if a call to For Each starts by calling the Enumerator's MoveNext, then Current, then MoveNext, then Current, and so on until MoveNext returns a False then it exits, am i right to say that the Reset is never called?initially i thought that Reset would be called when MoveNext returns False, i tried this (a msgbox would come if it was ever called but i got no msgbox at all)

[code]...

if that's the case, what exactly is the use of the reset in an ienumerator, and is it ok to leave it empty, as such

Run A SQL Statement To UPDATE A Column In A Table With New Data?

Apr 27, 2012

Attempting to run an SQL statement to UPDATE a column in a table with new data. The column being updated is defined as varchar(40) and the new data is 41 bytes (varchar(41)). I get a generic 'data will be truncated' error message, but no detail on which column caused the problem. I've attached a sample VB program to illustrate the issue. In this scenario, Company is defined as varchar(40).

My question: Can I get a more detailed error message? i.e. can I get an error message that tells me the row and column that the truncation occurs in? Often times, I may be updating hundreds or thousands of rows and only one value in one column from the source file is too large for a database cell. As a related question, does each OLEDB provider create its own error messages. i.e. will the MS SQL Server OLEDB provider potentially give different text in the error message than say the MS Jet OLEDB provider?

Imports System.Data.OleDb
Module Module1
Dim cn As OleDbConnection

Table Adapter InvalidCastException When Attempting To Update Through Column Headings

Feb 17, 2011

As the title says, when I attempt to update a row in a table in a database, I recieve an InvalidCastException. I am unsure why, since the variables I am using should be, and indeed, when I check them at runtime, are filled with the correct data.

I am trying to update using the method wherein the row that is being updated is identified with all the variables already stored. Interestingly, Intellisense is telling me that EntryID, the primary key, is only necessary in it's original form, and that the variables that I am attempting to update have question marks after their type.

Add File To Clob Column Goes With Transaction Much Longer Then Without (Oracle)?

May 5, 2009

I want to add from vb.net a file into a clob column in oracle 9.6.1 (8 mb). When i add the file within a transaction then it goes much longer (10x longer) then when i add it whitout transaction. Why i have to wait so long with transaction object?

Here i have prepared an example code. the first code is without transaction and the second code with transaction. The first code is much faster then the second.

I have the problem only when i want to add the file in a clob column. When i want to add it in a blob column, then i don't have any problem.[code]...

Insert Many Records Into Oracle Table?

Jun 9, 2011

Relatively new to VB.NET coding. Am creating a pretty simple console application that needs to insert over 50,000 records into an Oracle table (OleDB connection). I tried 3 different methods so far: Individual INSERT, insert using a dataset, & using INSERT ALL (commit every 25 records due to # of columns). It seemed like most articles/posts I read recommended the dataset approach, but the INSERT ALL code was definitely the fastest by far.

VS 2008 Oracle DataAdupter Update Method & Constraint Violation?

Jan 7, 2010

I have the following simple Sub to write a dataset back to an Oracle database

[code..]

Checking the logs today I noticed that for some executions I got an ORA-0001 (constraint violation) error. It seems that one of the fields in the oracle table being updated is marked as unique and my dataset contains one or more records that have the same value in that field.

How is this error handled? Does it just not add the violating records? Does it hit the invalid record and quit? Does it rollback?

Database - Exporting Excel Data Into Oracle Table?

Jun 11, 2009

I am trying to export an excel file directory into an Oracle table as opposed to looping through the range and executing a lot of insert statements. I would think that there are better ways to accomplish this in .NET but I can't seem to find any other answer besides convert excel to csv & load it using Sql Loader or External Table. Does anyone know a cleaner & more efficient way that looping through the ranges creating & executing insert statements?
