Mouse Events And User Control - Control Won't Respond To The Events
Dec 31, 2010I created a control that has picture box control docked within it. This control allows me to "animate" the image by swapping them out by setting the interval to swap them at. I want to use this control kind of like an animated icon within a application, but because the picture box is docked, the control I created won't respond to the events, MouseHover specifically. I want to create several instances of this class (each class handles a separate file) and respond when the StatusChanged event is raised any instance. How would I do this in .NET? Do I want to create a List(Of InstrumentConnector) or a similar IEnumerable? How do I write the event handler to respond to a particular instance's StatusChanged event?

Simplify A Weekly List Of Events For A Web Site
Aug 17, 2009I am writing a program to help simplify a weekly list of events for a web site without having to manually edit HTML code every single week.
The program takes event information from the user, stores it in a list box, and generates HTML code based on the user entry. The program basically enters in the user's inputted fields into a pre-set HTML template.
Here's how it's done:
1) I have a number of text boxes that the user fills out: "Date" "Event Title" "Age" "Location" "Details" etc.
2) The user clicks on the "ADD" button to store this event. The "Event Title" is shown in the list box, but I'd like for all of the information that was taken from the user before they clicked on "ADD" to be recalled in another text box.
3) The user can move events up or down in the list box, or remove them completely.
4) When the events have been sorted, the user hits the "GENERATE CODE" button and the html code is generated.
So lets say the list looks like:
- DJ Jim at Katrina Lounge
- DJ Heather at Zanzibar
- DJ Manny at Skybar
When the user clicks on the "DJ Jim" event, the full details that they entered earlier will be shown in a text box to the right of the list box. When they click on the "DJ Heather" event, the text box will reflect the details they entered for the "DJ Heather" event, and so on.
When the user click on "Generate", the program must be able to go through each item in the list box, recall the event details for that item, and plug in the variables for that item into the HTML code template.
The main question is, how can I store the information for each event (Event Title, Date, Location, etct.) while displaying only the Event Title for that even in the list box? If I know how to code this, it will be simple to display this information in the text box and recall the variables to plug into the HTML code

Jul 26, 2011when I add a Control to the List(Of Control) what gets added to the List? Is it the Control or reference to the Control.I have a collection of controls (picture boxes representing notes,comments, icons, etc.), which can be drag and drop into other picture boxes holding read only images. Those controls are never permamently added to those images, they can be move or dispose as needed. I need to save those controls to a file and retrieve it later, however when retrieved, they must be place onto the same location in the image. Saving just the image is not the option, I also need to save all the control attributes.

However I don't know how to code events for each control as they should do different things. I've looked at WithEvents and AddHandler and know I have to use Sender however not sure how to use /where to put eg. MouseEnter 1 panel when there's several.

Oct 2, 2007I just opened up an Asp.NET project solution for some maintenance. I usually use C# but this project is in VB. When clicking on a form's button and looking at the properties view, I see no way to view the events for that button. Usually the lightning bolt button would be present in the properties view and clicking it would show all events for the control. From there you could see the event handlers or create an event handler by double clicking. Why don't I see that in this project. Is it an IDE setting or a VB project thing?
P.S. I thought I was in VS 2005 but it's 2003. 2003 usually shows me the lightning bolt though in my c# projects.

Jun 4, 2009I'm using VS2008, vb.net, and winforms. I've got 3 comboboxes on the same form who are all bound to the same data. If an item is added in one, I want the change reflected in the other two. I'm trying to create one sub to handle the adding of an item for all three combos. I found that the "sender" object appears to contain the control name. The Sub I created is not working quite right because after the item is added, the combo list display repeats itself. So instead of "Item1, Item2, Item3" after adding "Item3", I get "Item1", "Item2", "Item1", "Item2", "Item3". This coding works fine if I were to copy it to the Key_Down event for each combo and reference it directly (for example, use cboSpecialty1.Items.[code]...

Detect Mouse Events On Transparent Control?

what im trying to do is when you put the mouse over the panel it displays a picture and when the mouse leaves the picture goes away..the problem is that it doesnt detect the mouse when its over the panel. if i make the form background non-transparent it detects it just fine but i need it to work when both the form and panel are transparent

Getting Click Events From Buttons In A Control Array?

Attaching code to buttons when they're clicked is easy when they're static buttons on the form; just double click the button on the form designer and add code to the event.
I have a series of buttons that are generated in a control array, so they're generated in a class, and in the form there are no buttons until runtime.
So newbie question with a probably simple answer...how do I enter code for the click event for buttons that aren't there until they're instantiated as a class at runtime?

Handling Events From User Control Containing A WPF Textbox?
Mar 22, 2010In order to take advantage of the spell checking ability of WPF textboxes, I have added one to a user control (with the use of elementhost). This user control is used in various window forms. My current problem is trying to handle keyup events from this textbox but the windows form is unable to "get" any event from the control. I can access the properties of the textbox just fine (i.e. text, length, etc.) but keyboard events don't seem to work.I have found, however, that the following will bring back events from the WPF textbox:

The user control is now able to do something after the PreviewKeyUp event is fired in the WPF textbox. Now, I'm not completely sure how to have the window form containing this user control to work with this.
