I'm building an control interface for a system that consists of 1-4 modules. In my interface, each module has its own control set, grouped in a groupbox. I only want to show the control groups for the modules that are actually connected and hide the rest.
This is easy to do with the visble property.
I also want all of the groups to be stacked vertically in the UI such that when one is hidden, the rest below it shift up into its place as if you deleted a row in a table. It needs to be able to come back just as easily.
I am able to only add controls that are of type TextBox. My question to you is, can I create a List to hold more than one control type or do I have to create a list for each control type?
I'm developing a program with a team in Visual Basic 2010.
What i wanna do is to create a textbox (inherits from textbox) with additional one property called MDIStatusInformation which is used to display a tooltip text in a status bar at main MDI form.
When i use this tag <Browsable(True)> _, the control property not list anything there.
I have looked over the code in the Active Directory Tutorial, but am having trouble understanding how to read through the groups to list their members.Our domain is large and I only want to list groups in an Organizational Unit called "LocationName".
I need a simple way to list all of the groups in Active Directory using VB.NET, either on a web page or winform. I've been trying to figure it out, but I've never used DirectoryServices before and I haven't been able to find a good example to learn from.

I'm writing code to parse through a list of file directories and identify which AD groups have access. That info is available in the operating system under the file properties security tab, but I can't find any code examples that retrieve that info in vb.net (or c#). Anyone have code that will do that?
Im trying to to simply list all security groups from active directory as i will then be doing checks on folders with the mathcing security group.

I have a contextmenustrip. I want to create many groups items in that contextmenu. I mean Line which separate each groups. I can do that in Dotnetbar. but with contextmenu in win form I cant.
I am using control groups per question and inside 5 radio buttons so they choose an answer. Its 25 questions and 5 questions per "page". On the same frame I just initially show the 1st 5 questions and as the student answers them and hit next hide those 5 and show the next 5. Here is where the problem begins, not a problem per-se but still bugs me. One of the next 5 questions will already be checked inside a control group for one of the radio buttons.
I have checked the properties and they all show on "Checked: False". Is there somewhere in code where I can make sure they are false or it may be the fact that I have 5 control groups on top of each other? Because I want the student to be able to show the next 5 questions only if he has answer the 5 being shown. Also the 1st 5 are never marked unless by user its only when I show the next 5 ones and hide the initial 5.
I created a vb.net application that reads a data file (SQL table) and creates contacts and groups from this data. If I run this application and point the Contact folder to my local Outlook folders, the application runs fine. It creates about 550 contact and 10 groups. My problem is when I go to run the application against a public folder that am the "owner" of with full permissions it will run fine until it hits items 250 and then I get a COM error.
i want to make the listview control collapsible to the groups alone. Like in Vista's My Computer, where only the group names are shown and then we click on the group to expand it
i would like to create a small tool that filters new and old facebook groups, i am almost finished, but one part isnt working the filtering here is the source code, grabbing groups works but checking if they are old or new doesn't, even though it should. There is one more feature not working where it filters the members size it is not grabbing the text it should (instead of grabbing the amount of members its just grabbing something from the beginning of the source code) [code]
I've created a custom user control that has several properties. One specifies which database I want the control to access. I want to be able to present the user of the control a drop down from which he can select which database the control will interact with. How do I get the dropdown to work? I can get default values, but have yet to figure out how to get the selectable list.
Is it possible to create a user control with a list of custom class type property? If it is, how can I? The issue is that, in designer mode the property is not displayed in property window. I can add the list on markup but when i switch to the designer mode it gives an error which is 'The user control does not have a public property named BookList'.
when I add a Control to the List(Of Control) what gets added to the List? Is it the Control or reference to the Control.I have a collection of controls (picture boxes representing notes,comments, icons, etc.), which can be drag and drop into other picture boxes holding read only images. Those controls are never permamently added to those images, they can be move or dispose as needed. I need to save those controls to a file and retrieve it later, however when retrieved, they must be place onto the same location in the image. Saving just the image is not the option, I also need to save all the control attributes.
II am trying to create a toggle button that switches a list to a range and then back to a list if needed. I am able to get it to do both but when I add an item to the list, convert to a range and then convert back to a list it leaves off the last items I entered.I tried to work in a code to select all cells but I must not be putting it in the right place.This is what I have so far:
i am trying to create a list of list in that i would like to work on multiple accounts at the same time. lets say i have 5 accounts. every account has a seperate name. each account has a few fields. so i though of having a list of bookkeeping (with 5 accounts) and a list of accounts (with expense, income, tax, status, etc as fields). This is probably a really basic question - but I have a list of items (custom objects) being passed from one winform (.net 3.5) to another. I want to create a local list to store changes that only get persisted if the user clicks save. Currently if the user clicks cancel - the changes are still applied in the first form because I assume the objects are reference type.I have the save working as it calls a service layer to do the save and then refreshes the other form - but not the cancel.
How can I get a new distinct list from an existing list using LINQ? This is what I have so far and it is not distinct but does give me a new list.
