Implement Code Snippets At Runtime In Vb?

Nov 27, 2009

I need to port an old Clipper app to vb.net. It relies heavily on user-written macros and indeed would be almost impossible to create without them. As VB is interpreted, I am sure it must be possible to implement code that the user has entered, but I have no idea how to do so!

Are The .NET Code Snippets Available For C#

Dec 4, 2009

where I might find C# versions of the VB.NET code snippets built in to Visual Studio (2008)?What are Code Snippets?VB.NET has a wide-ranging collection of snippets that cover most of the basic tasks one might want to accomplish, i.e. File I/O, LINQ, DB connectivity, and so on. C# has a much smaller and narrower library, mainly stuff for NetFX 3.0, Refactoring, and something called "other", among one or two other items.

How To Implement M:N Relationships Between Classes In Code

Jul 12, 2009

Current i'm developing an application track storage of an item.in it abusiness rule says an item can be moved to more than one warehouses. Also i need to keep the history of the Item's history, Thereefore i need to create two entities,"Warehouse" and "ItemsHistoryOfLocations". I have developped an static class diagram to show the relationshop. These are the relationship rules between the classes:

1. A warehouse could be in an Item's History of locations.

2. A warehouse could be in many Items' History of locations.therefore in the forward relationshop -- 1..*

3. In an Item's History of locations, there must be at least one warehouse4. In an Item's history of locations, there can be more than one warehouse

Therefore in teh backward relationship -- 1..* Therefore the relationship betwween teh classes is a M:N. In another Object oriented scripting languaage when ever, and M:N relationship is found between classes, their relationship is slit and put a collection class called "MemberKeyDictionaries" as the bridging entity. But in C# / VB, should we create these collection classe. IF NOT, then how should i modify my class diagram to implement this M:N relationship? and h0w do i implement this M;N relationship in code?

VS 2008 VB Snippets For C#

Feb 11, 2010

I recently made the switch to a new job and consequently the switch from VB.NET to C#. One thing that I miss is all the snippets that are available in VB.NET. VB.NET comes with ~400 snippets and C# only comes with ~100. Also, I have noticed that the majority of VB.NET snippets are task oriented which is exceptionally helpful when you hit those tasks that you only do every now and again (e.g. DeterminetheAmountofIsolatedStorageAvailable).

So, before I go through the pain of converting my favorite VB.NET snippets over to C#, does anyone know if someone has already done this and made it available for download?

C# Implement Late Binding For Native Code

We want to implement this interface in C#, and have the native application call our C# assembly. Is this anything we have to do beyond matching the method names and method signatures to make it work?

Writing VB Code To Implement In EXCEL (using Arrays)

May 21, 2012

To write code to implement data from visual basic into excel. Write a VB.NET program to store the following numbers into an array named Scores: 89.5, 76.2, 90, 86, 81, 97, 61, and 73. Your program will calculate an average score, list each of these scores in a new Excel workbook and show whether each score is below or above average. Your program will then save the Excel workbook as TestScores.xlsx.

In column A1 it should say "average" and next to it (in b1) should have the average of all those scores. in the cells below (starting from A3) it should list the scores and the column next to each score it should say whether each score is above average, average, or below average (compared to the average calculated in cell b1)

Can Any Of These .Net Snippets Be Reduced To 1 Line

Is there some construct or method that can do these in 1 line?

C# - How To Write Global Snippets Program With .NET

Aug 26, 2009

I want to write my own global snippets tool for Windows XP and higher. This would be an always running in the background tool that would pop-up on a globally-defined hotkey, allow me to select a snippet with substitution arguments, and then paste the expanded snippet into the text input of whatever control I had been in when activated it, and finally, return me to that previous app/input box.

I know how to do most of the algorithmic aspects, but I do not know how to accomplish these windows-based features:

1 - Global Hotkey: how do I define a key-sequence in windows (from .net?) that will work, even when entering data in another apps textbox? (Usually this will be a browser window)

2 - Pasting Into Another App: I could use the paste-buffer and Ctrl-C, but I want to avoid the extra keystrokes.

3 - Return Control to Original Window: Seamlessly return back into my input stream: how do I do that? In fact, how does my tool even know where I was before it popped up?

The reasons that I want to write this myself is first to learn how (because there are other tools like this I would like to make) and secondly, I don't know of any snippets tools that have the argument substitution that I want. So, the two (2)questions are A) What should be my general approach? and B) how best can I accomplish items 1 to 3 above?

Implement A Licensing Schema For A Template That Uses The Follow Code Snippet?

Sep 28, 2011

Im trying to implement a licensing schema for a template that uses the follow code snippet. (using VS2010 vb.net4)

<LicenseProviderAttribute(GetType(RegistryLicenseProviderSave)), _
GuidAttribute("2de915e1-df71-3443-9f4d-32259c92ced2")> _
Public Class Form1main
. Form code etc.
End Class

I need to utilize the GUID value in other classes within my application, as an example, as making registry entries. My goal is to have this editable at only 1 place in the template.Ive created a Friend class that has the GUID string in it, but Im unable to get the above to recognize the string. Im sure that the code is simple, but it evades me.I would really like to do is to access the Guid that VS2010 vb.net creates (Project->Application->Assembly) shows and insert it into my application.

Implement An Owner-drawn ListView In My Application Using The Code Available At This MSDN Article?

Feb 21, 2009

I'm trying to implement an Owner-drawn ListView in my application using the code available at this MSDN article, however I've encountered several issues.First of all, the double-click event only fires when the mouse is over the text in the first column of any ListViewItem. I'd prefer to keep the manual, timer-based, double-click detection routine as a last resort if possible.Second, when the ListView is scrolled sideways, clicking an item won't select it anymore.

IDE :: Snippets Still Lack So Much Functionality After 3 Versions Of Visual Studio?

Jun 16, 2010

Why is there such tremendous effort made on microsofts part to hide the fact that you cannot write SurroundsWith code snippets for Visual Basic, and the $end$ and $selected$ reserved words dont work in Visual Basic.

Micro$osft... YOUVE HAD 3 VERSIONS OF VISUAL STUDIO TO GET THIS WORKING... WHY THE H3LL IS IT STILL A STEAMING PILE FOR VISUAL BASIC. I HAVE TO BUY A THIRD PARTY PRODUCT TO ENABLE FUNCTIONALITY THAT YOU REFUSE TO WRITE FOR VISUAL BASIC.

Can you tell this is infuriating? I spent a TON of hours finding out about this sorely lacking functionality that you should have plastered ALL OVER your snippets documentation on MSDN. I hear you're a HORRIBLE company to work for, but should I ever need a job and have to dig at the bottom of the barrel, I think you OWE me a g.d. job now.

Add Controls AND Code At Runtime

Jan 15, 2012

"add controls at runtime" how to add code to the controls. kinda useless with no code, ehh? all results only told me how to add the control, that's it. well, this result is different. i will teach you firstly how to add controls at runtime, then how to apply code to them at runtime

Firstly, add the controls:

[CODE]..............

Now run it. do you have a button on the form? if yes, excellent. if not, you made a mistake. try again now how to add code? you may have noticed that when you double click on any control, it says private sub button1_click(blah, blah, blah) Handles button1.click where it says handles button1.click is what determines when the code executes under what event for what control (in this case the click event for the button1). this won't work when adding code at runtime. did you notice in the above example i added a with event, and addHandler? this is what creates the handler (same as Handles button1.click)

Now we add the code for the runtime control

[CODE].........

Above, the addressOf button1_click tells the program to execute the sub button1_click when the button is clicked on (as determined by .click) but i know what you're thinking! your thinking "why would we even BOTHER doing this at runtime? isn't it easier to do it at design-time in the first place?" yes it is, providing your not writing a plugin. plugins are code based, not GUI (also reffered to as WYSIWYG). to update existing forms using plugins, you need to use this method.
