i want to make condition statement in my function. i use this method : [code]if i try to insert a data already in the database, the function will directly go to the updateDatabase()the problem is, if i try to insert the data that currently not in the database, the function will directly go to update database as well.
I am using a MS Access database as the backend of my VB.NET application. I am entering users details into the database using an INSERT INTO statement:
cn = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & config("DatabasePath") & ";") cn.Open()cmd = New OleDbCommand("INSERT INTO blah blah blah...", cn) dr = cmd.ExecuteReader
I think im going mad but can some show me what im missing, it must be some stupidly simple i just cant see the wood for the trees.BOTH side of this if then else statement are being executed?
Ive tried commenting out the true side and moving the condition to a seperate variable with the same result. However if i explicitly set the condition to 1=0 or 1=1 then the if then statement is operating as i would expect. i.e. only executing one side of the equation...
The only time ive seen this sort of thing is when the compiler has crashed and is no longer compiling (without visible indication that its not) but ive restarted studio with the same results, ive cleaned the solution, built and rebuilt with no change?
Dim dset As DataSet = New DataSet If (CboCustomers.SelectedValue IsNot Nothing) AndAlso (CboCustomers.SelectedValue <> "") Then Dim Sql As String = "Select sal.SalesOrderNo As SalesOrder,cus.CustomerName,has.SerialNo,
I need to write an sql statement that has an IF condition in it
This is my current statment:
"SELECT * From History Where DelNoteNum = " & delNote & " ORDER BY StockLoc"
What I need to do though is if the StockLoc > 4000 then group by ProductCode. I definatly only need to do this if the stock location is greater than 4000 though.
I have a IF statement which is checking each row in the data table (for a match) and ELSE statement with commands which are executed if the If statement is not satisfied. Now I would like to write like so that it goes to the Else part BUT ONLY for values which are not satisfied in the IF statement. If I am more specific; I would like to calculate values if a match is found and just print them if it is not fond (usually there are both cases). Now the problem is the bold text; if there is a match found I don't want it processed BUT if the match is found I do. How can I write that?
currencyPosition = 0 Dim d As Integer = w + 100 For Each currency In Ary
I have a requirement where I have to add items into a List(Of T) (let's call it Target) from an IEnumerable(Of T) (let's call it Source) using Target.AddRange() in VB.NET.
The ? part is a tricky condition that is something like: As long as the as yet unenumerated count is not equal to what is needed to fill the list to the minimum required then randomly decide if the current item should be taken, otherwise take the item.Somethig like...
Source.Count() - Index = _minimum_required - _curr_count_of_items_taken _ OrElse GetRandomNumberBetween1And100() <= _probability_this_item_is_taken ' _minimum_required and _probability_this_item_is_taken are constants
The confounding part is that _curr_count_of_items_taken needs to be incremented each time the TakeWhile statement is satisfied. How would I go about doing that? I'm also open to a solution that uses any other LINQ methods (Aggregate, Where, etc.) instead of TakeWhile.If all else fails then I will go back to using a good old for-loop =)
I'm building a listview search feature in my app. (See the code below). It works really well, except if you search "T" then the code removes all items, if you search "t" then it removes every item except for those starting with "t". Is there any way to make a 'like' statement, or use some kind of wildcard to make the statement not case sensitive?
For Each itm As ListViewItem In ListView2.Items If itm.Text Like TextBox1.Text & "*" Or itm.SubItems.Item(1).Text Like TextBox1.Text & "*" Then Else
Is there any way to get me a condition like this? If textbox1 (has string or integer inside) then how to make a condition if the textbox has an input in it or none?
The code i have so far inputs the users username and pas that they inputted into 2 textboxes. Next the user hits login and it submits the info. Here is where i have a problem. Some users are already logged in when they get to the site, this is a problem because i need to make sure they are logging in correctly. Here comes another problem, lets say they log in correctly, how can i know that the login was successful?
Simplified:
1) How can i find out if the user is already logged in so i can log them out.
2) If they are not logged in, and they log in successfully. how can i confirm that?
If there is any other way to login without web browsers?
'Code to enter the user and pass into the webpage WebBrowser1.document.GetElementById("Username").InnerText = TextBox1.Text WebBrowser1.document.GetElementById("Password").InnerText = TextBox2.Text 'Code to click login on the webpage WebBrowser1.document.GetElementById("submit").InvokeMember("click")
When I am building my web-poject it is successful and giving no error but when I check the Error list too many errors are showing. One more thing that when I am taking even empty events the error increases
Errors in Error List are: Error 1 Name 'nserted' is not declared. C:Documents and SettingsVisual Studio 2005WebSi
Is there a Visual Basic Best of the Best showcase?I am talking about commercial programs that really shine.Where can I go to goggle at the the most successful VB apps around?
Class con1 Public Function ConnectToSql() As SqlConnection Dim conn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection conn = New SqlConnection("data source=" & Server & ";" & _
How can I recover my last succesful build.When debugging the last build will run but I cannot edit anything due to errors in the current code.Does anyone know.Oh I am using VB.net 2008.
i was trying to make my service act dynamically... i have set time for my service about for 2 min ,if suppose it was doin huge amount of work means it will exceeds that 2 min time limit then we need to check the service condition if work is pending means we need to run that instance until upto finish.
public static void StartService(string serviceName, int timeoutMilliseconds) { ServiceController service = new ServiceController(serviceName);[code]............
I've been at this for a bit now, and I have tried using google extensively. I have my application set up: it is a HWID System available only to paid subscribers. I want buyers to be able to click on a 'buy now button', and once they successfully pay it automatically adds their information into the database the app uses. This way there is no waiting after payments. I know this is possible, because I've seen it done before - I just can't seem to find how it works?
I have a sub that I just discovered does not work for my windows 7 users but works fine for my windows XP users. This is basically a sub for a ping monitor to ping devices on a timer. What happens is that when the windows 7 user tries to ping, it always reports "down" on a windows 7 whether actually up or down. But, windows xp will report correctly with "up". 3 different windows 7 boxes, users say it worked before. Can't quite debug correctly as i'm on xp myself and it works just fine. Also, I haven't changed anything in the code in quite awhile and this is a recent bug that just started.
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick Dim itm As Object Sec = Sec - 1 If ListView1.Items.Count = 0 Then Me.Close() If Sec <= 0 Then [Code] .....
I need to create/get a simple program that opens up a webpage, writes to a log if it is successful or not, logs out and repeats 5 minutes later.I'm not a coder myself, and I have no coders available at my work, I do on the otherhand have access to Visual Basic .NET 2010.
So I was looking around the forums for how to do a successful Winsock program but noticed that there is an alternative way of creating connections, using system.net.sockets. Would you guys say that system.net.sockets has replaced Winsock? Is there a particular one that is better than the other?
i have a query here run in SQL server 2008 which produces the error "Conversion from string "INSERT INTO Faculty (emp_id, lna" to type 'Double' is not valid."
I am trying to make an If statement. I have 4 radio buttons
Part Time Full Time Part Time Temp Full Time Temp.
I am calculating Fringe and Calucalted Funds.I also have 6 constants
Const PEIABasic_RATE_Decimal As Decimal = 5.06 Const PEIAFAMILY_RATE_Decimal As Decimal = 778.0 Const WORKERSCOMP_RATE_Decimal As Decimal = 0.0049D
[code]....
I have two text boxes where a user can enter the hours worked and hourly rate. and Salary rate. If a user clicks the Full time radio button the calculation for fringe should be FICA const * salary Works comp const * salary.Then u would add the fringe to the base salary. Part time the user needs to click the part time button along with another button, either TIAA or State REtierement.
If FullTimeTempButton.Checked & TIAARadioButton.Checked Then FringeTextBox.Text = (FICA_RATE_Decimal * SalaryTextBox.Text) + (WORKERSCOMP_RATE_Decimal * SalaryTextBox.Text) + (TIAA_RATE_Decimal * SalaryTextBox.Text)
