Recently we have run into an issue with the Math.Round function. We have developed an application in VB.Net 2008. The executable is compiled to use .net framework 2.0. We have deployed the package to our users and at some sites we get a different result in a computation using Math.Round.

Why my math keeps getting rounded to 0 decimal points by default?When I do this I get return value of 1
Private Sub Button4_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button4.Click
Dim numb1 As Integer
numb1 = 100 / 78
MsgBox(numb1)
End Sub
How to get that value up to two decimal points (like 0.00)?

We are noticing this occurs BOTH in javascript and in VB.net 2.0. So basically both in server side and client side code. Basically if you run this equation 975328 - 153279.43 you get the following answer 822048.57000000007. However, if you run 975328 - 153279.4, 975328 - 153279.433, or 975328 - 153279.5 everything is returned correctly. WHY the system calcuates the 975328 - 153279.43 with an answer with 11 decimal places? Not to mention adding the 7 in the 11th decimal place, thus making the equation answer incorrect.Of course I know I can trim, set the answer to appropiate decimal places, etc., etc.the above is proven by just entering the equation into the immidiate window, thus ellimnating varibables such as object types, etc., etc.

how to go about populating some text boxes with results from calculations. To be more specific, I'm trying to do some trig to calculate various parts of a ci0rcle and will be populating any two of the text boxes then click on a button to get the missing values. I was thinking along the lines of a loop until all values have been calculated.

I have been having an issue with returning records from a SQLServer database where the date the record was created is between 2 user specified dates. When I populate the DataGridView with the results, they are incorrect and do not follow any recognisable pattern.
For example, if I specify the dates 05/05/2010 and 12/05/2010 I get the attached data in the DataGridView.
Code:
Private Sub btnGo_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnGo.Click
'Clear the DataGridView

Im working on a board game in vb.net. But Ive stumbled on a problem; for some reason Im not getting the correct location reference when I move my picturebox. Let me explain the procedure; First it locates the current position of Red1 with Red1Top and Red1Left, and assigns a number for its position; intCurrentSpot. Then it adds what ever was rolled from the dice intDieA to the current location; intCurrentSpot and the second case statement moves it to the new location. HOWEVER position 11 reads as position 10 and hence gives the user an incorrect reading to where the dice points. Ive checked the numbers over a thousand times and still getting an incorrect reading, what am I doing wrong or can I use something else to get Red1 location?[code]...

When subtracting two doubles the result appears to be correct but when I save said results in a SQL Server table they are incorrect. I know their are problems with decimal values in the binary world but isn't there a work around for this?For example 421.2 - 418.9 = 2.3, but the result stored in the SQL Server table is 2.29!In the VB code I used Math.Round to round to two digits and the values appear correct during debugging but, as I've said, in the end they are off by .01. [code] decimal(10,2)BTW, I've tried numerous methods of getting the correct value but have not met with any success. I've used Math.Round on Val1 and Val2 separately, after the subtraction, and on the ResultVal. I've also converted the ResultVal to a string using Format(ResultVal, "#####.00") and then back to a number but still the value that ends up in the SQL Server table is wrong.

I have the following code:
For Each control2 As Control In GroupBox3.Controls
If TypeOf control2 Is TextBox Then
Dim txt2 As TextBox = TryCast(control2, TextBox)
If counter > totalBoxes Then
[Code]...
What I am doing is looping through each textbox in groupbox3. Then checking if the counter(total number of grades that are inputted in the form) are greater than the totalBoxes(which is set to 0) and finally I am putting the actual grade(A,B,C,D) into the textbox. The problem is that it is starting the loop at textbox 8(I have 10 textboxes) for some reason and going from there. Does anyone know what the problem is with my code?

Problem: Using the sub routing below, when adding a value to another value the results eventually change from 2-decimal places to multiple decimal places.Basically, the amount stored should always only be 2 decimal places, because the values passed in are always 2 decimal places. Output from calling the sub routine multiple times.
Running total = 329430.75
New Withheld Amount = 710.79
Running total = 330141.54
[code]....
As a workaround, I have a new routine that uses a custom round function to properly store only 2 decimal places - as the VB round function does not perform the type of rounding desired.I understand that we are removing the value from the dictionary and adding it back..

I'm not very good with web services and I'm dealing with one developed internally in Java. This web service requires a Header element named Token with a value (an encrypted string). I've been able to add this "Token" but the service doesn't accept it. This is the request xml my proxy calls generates (proxy class built with WSDL.EXE and modified to accept a SoapHeader external class I wrote to add Header to request):
<soap:Envelope> <soap:Header>
<TokenHeader soap:actor="[URL]">
<Token>[TOKEN VALUE]</Token>
</TokenHeader>
</soap:Header>
<soap:Body>
</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>
And this is what the web services wants (this is a xml request made by a java tyest client):
<soapenv:Envelope>
<soapenv:Header> .....
This is the code I wrote:
Imports System.Web.Services
Imports System.Web.Services.Protocols
<System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot(Namespace:=[WSDL NAMESPACE])> _
Public Class TokenHeader
Inherits SoapHeader

x = 4.2 - 0.1
vb.net gives 4.1000000000000005
python gives 4.1000000000000005
Excel gives 4.1
Google calc gives 4.1
What is the reason this happens?

well i am having a couple of issues with this particular homework problem and this is my first programming class so there is probably quite a few mistakes well the homework problem is to take three double values entered by a user and display the largest and smallest using math.max and math.min and display the smallest and largest so i thought i could use a listbox and take the values that went to the listbox and assign variables to each so i can try to use each variable in the math.max and min but im not making it to far and i actually might be way off

The hotel has 8 floors and 30 rooms on each floor. Create an application that calculates the occupancy rate for each floor, and the overall occupancy rate for the hotel. The occupancy rate is the percentage of rooms occupied, and may be calculated by dividing the number of rooms occupied by the number of rooms.When the user clicks the "Complete Report" button, a loop should execute and iterate 8 times. Each time the loop iterates, it should display an input box for one of the hotel's floors. The input box should ask the user to enter the number of rooms occupied on that floor. As the user enters a value for each floor, the loop should calculate the occupancy rate for that floor, and display the information for that floor in the list box. When the number of occupied rooms has been entered for all the floors, the application should display the total number of rooms occupied and the overall occupnacy rate of the hotel.I have some of the code but I'm not sure which way to go now!

All e.Key... properties are ReadOnly. The KeyPress events let me change this by providing e.KeyChar, but in that event I can't check for the numpad .

How would I go about rounding up decimal numbers to the nearest 2 decimal places? For example $7.0000032 would be $7.01 In theory, VB would make it $7.00 but if it is > $7.00, I want it to reflect that to the nearest penny... so $3.0000001 would be $3.01

I have a form that allows users to select file and then it reads the contents, parses the data and then executes a sql insert statement to add it to a database. What I am having issues with is showing real-time results. Currently, I have the import operation take place on the import form within the OnLoad event. The problem with this is it only shows the final results instead of the results real-time. Is there anyway to do this without creating a seperate thread and delegates?
