Error In Some Client Machines With Microsoft.mshtml

Jun 7, 2009

I have a .NET application which is using the Microsoft.mshtml PIA. It frequently experienced exceptions with a message saying that the Microsoft.mshtml assembly or one of its dependencies is missing. Weirdly enough, this happens on some machines, but works fine on others! (actually, it works fine on the majority of machines)

Import A "Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect" Using The Imports Statement

Mar 26, 2009

I have just started to find my way in VB.NET. I'm currently trying to make an add-in for MS FSX SP2/Acceleration. I want to import a "Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect" using the Imports statement. MS VS, however, states that it can not be found. I have found "SimConnect.lib" and "Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll" in the SDK. Which one should I use, and where should I place the file?

Error BC30464: Namespace Or Type'Compatibility' In The Project-level Imports 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility' Cannot Be Found

Jan 16, 2009

I've started to use a Vista machine for development. In case it is significant: I'm using MSBee so that I can code in the Visual Studio 2005 IDE while still building against the 1.1 framework. On the Vista machine, when I tried to build a particular vb project, I got this error:

error BC30464: Namespace or type'Compatibility' in the project-level Imports 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility' cannot be found.

The same project built fine on my old XP machine. I checked in this folder on my Vista machine:

C:windowsmicrosoft.netFrameworkv1.1.4322

...and sure enough, "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll" was missing. So was "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.Data.dll". Copying them from my XP machine to my Vista machine allowed me to build the project successfully.I'm just a bit puzzled as to why this happened. Why was "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll" missing? I'm also not very comfortable with my chosen solution - copying the DLL manually. It works, but surely there must be a better way.

As far as the configuration:

Vista:
.Net Framework 1.1
.Net Framework 1.1 SP1
.Net Framework 1.1 SDK

Add Reference To Microsoft HTML Object Library?

Mar 11, 2012

Okay normally this was easy to do, but now with IE9 Visual Studio 2010 hangs and crashes. The problem seems to be even worse because you can't build an Interop.mshtml.dll to match version 9. I've tried using the VS command prompt with no luck. Allegedly this is how it is done, but there are no known examples that actually work. If anyone has done this with success

Added Reference; Microsoft Internet Controls (COM Tab)

Jan 8, 2012

I was trying to make my program see if facebook.com was running in internet explorer.

I added the following

Private Function isFaceBookOpen() As Boolean
For Each ie As SHDocVw.InternetExplorer In New SHDocVw.ShellWindows()
Dim filename As String = System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(ie.FullName).ToLower()
If filename = "iexplore" Then

[code]...

And added reference; Microsoft Internet Controls (COM tab) but i also need to add this reference; Microsoft.mshtml (.NET tab)

Problem is that i can't find that reference. BTW, I want the function to be triggered by a timer.

Add A Reference To Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll - Required To Run A DTS/SSIS Package

Dec 19, 2006

I am using VB.NET 2002 and we have set up a test environment running SQL Server 2005. I am trying to add a reference to Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll which is required to run a DTS/SSIS package from VB.NET. However the dll does not show in my add reference listing so when I select BROWSE and select the actual DLL I get a rather long error message telling me that only 'dll' and COM components can be referenced.

The exact message is: A reference to 'C:Programs FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90SDKAssembliesMicrosoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll' could not be added. This is not a valid assembly or COM component. Only assemblies with extension 'dll' and COM components can be referenced.make sure that the file is accessible, and that it is a valid assembly or COM component.

Project 'MyProject' Requires A Reference To Version '14.0.0.0' Of Assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'

Apr 14, 2011

I have Visual Studio 2010 and a VB Project that had a reference to Microsoft.Interop.Excel 12.0. Well recently I changed the reference version to 14.0. That was actually a mistake and now I need to bump it back down to version 12.0. However I get this error in my project now...

Project 'MyProject' requires a reference to version '14.0.0.0' of assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel', but references version '12.0.0.0'
of assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.

I tried removing references and adding the com object to, but no avail.

1) set a reference to the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library

2) Added "Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" to the top of the module

3) in a routine I have added: Dim X As New Excel.Application Here's where I get an error: Error 75 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.

MSHTML System.AccessViolationException?

Sep 21, 2006

I seem to be in a quandry over an error that makes no sense to me.In following some examples I have found on the Net, I've been attempting to use the MSHTML library in vb.net to access the HTML DOM.[URL]...when I look at the error message, it tells me that memory could be corrupt elsewhere. I've attempted this line of code by omitting the "http://"portion of the URL, byt trying numerous web sites, and with various other arguments in the 2nd parameter, such as "", ControlChars.NullChar and "null". I've also reset my PC and created a brand new application with only that code and get the same results.I am using VS.NET 2005,version 8.0.50727.42I don't know if it will help, but the details from the exception object are as follows:System.AccessViolationException was caught Message="Attempted to read or write protected memory.
