Application Reading Web Page - VB 2008?

im just wondering is it possible to do this easily as im not great at VB I have a simple webbrowser open when i click a menu item, and when it loads it goes to a text page on a online server i have (ends in .txt) which just has some text on, is it possible for me to add a button which when i press it, it searches the page for a certain number/word, then opens a message box with some text in relation to the number/text, or is this not possible with a webpage.

This code works fine but not always , Sometimes when the net is down or some downloading is going on either on Lime wire or any download manager , The application navigates to the page but then don't login. I also tried using threads but that didn't work as well.

My application is intended to crawl a URL page and extract all possible links from the page.It works fine for a certain URL but with another it keeps causing problems. When the root page is accessed it correctly extracts the different directory links. but when it requests the directory links html page it pulls the main root URL again. someone mentioned about redirection but when debugging I see the url variable containing the directory link correctly.

I need to read PDF Page size of an existing PDF. I have both itextsharp and acrobat used in my project. This is what I've tried.
Dim pagesize As Rectangle
Dim reader As PdfReader = New PdfReader(formfile)
pagesize = reader.GetPageSize(1)
If pagesize.Width = "396" Then
Testing = "Y"
Else

I get page size as = {Rectangle: 396x309.6 (rot: 0 degrees)}
And Testing comes out = Y
This seemed great at first, until I found that I get those exact same values regardless of how big the pdf is...so now i'm back to square one not knowing where to turn. Interesting thing to note though When I hover my mouse over reader.GetPageSize(1), nothing shows up while debugging, but pagesize does get the value stated above.

How can I check the 'Checked' property of a dynamically-created checkbox during the Page_Load subroutine? Basically, I have a VB.NET page that creates some table rows dynamically, based on a number selected by the user. So, for example, if the user selects "3" from a dropdown list, the page posts back and creates three table rows. Each row contains a couple of textboxes, a dropdown list, and a checkbox (which are all .NET form controls rather than plain HTML controls, I should point out).Typically, the user would enter a few details into the form controls, and click the 'Submit' button, after which the page iterates through each row, and inserts the data into a SQL Server table.But if the user ticks the checkbox for that row, this signifies that the page is to ignore that row, and NOT insert that row of data into the database when the user clicks 'Submit'. This works well, but there is a problem. If the user clicks 'Submit' and some of the values entered into the form controls are invalid (so, for example, the user didn't enter their name) then the page won't submit the data, and instead, shows an error to the user informing them of the values they need to change. But if the user creates three rows, for example, but decides to "ignore" the third row (by ticking the checkbox) then when the page posts back, finds some invalid entries, and re-shows the form to the user to allow them to correct any errors, I'd rather the page didn't render the third row altogether. After all, they chose to create three rows originally, but then decided that they only needed two. So it makes sense that the third row is not recreated.
But what seemed to happen was that objCheckbox.Checked was always returning False, even when the checkbox was ticked. Once the page had loaded, the table rows had rendered again, and the tick was present in the checkbox, so it's not like the value was lost on postback. But at the point I check whether the checkbox is ticked, it always returns False, rendering a table row that the user doesn't need.Does anyone know how to get round this problem? I've read lots of articles about the .NET ViewState, and the page lifecycle, but I've yet to find a solution that works. I simply need to be able to check if a checkbox is ticked before re-creating some dynamic controls. [code] But then I basically found out that you can't override a protected member with a public one.

I have a basic page which has fields that I read from the database and write to it. I would like to know where I should call the insert and read commands. I know about age_load but heard about page_loadcomplete.I noted that when the user refreshes the page, for some reason the sqldatasource loads the old data(before the write) even though new data has been loaded on the form.

A couple of months ago, before I started learning C++, I made an application in VB.net that reads memory from an external program. This could be anything, from notepad to windows media player etc. I have been trying to find a way to do the exact same thing in C++, but to my suprise I can't find anything straightforward on the subject. All google comes up with is threads on several forums, where the general response is "Windows doesn't allow you to read from memory you do not own". But if it works in VB.net, it can work in C++ too.

What Im needing to do is it will automatically ping it like "ping iphere" the output looks like "64 bytes from machine&hostnamehere (iphere ): icmp_seq=0 ttl=121 time=60 ms. What Im needing to know is how I can read those lines then if it "iphere" matches the pinged ip it will update my txt file.

I have created a program which should perform a certain action whenever a certain group of keys is pressed at the same time. The program must be able to run in the background, or in the system tray or something. Essentially, this should work like the KeyDown event on a form, except the form in this case is everything.
I'm not certain if there is a way to do this directly from within the .net API, but if there is I certainly have not found it.

What I am trying to do is I have a .dat file that I cannot read but can at the same time. What I mean is I know how to decipher it by hand (alas takes minutes per 6 parts and there are thousands.) I am trying to make an application that can read this and allow me to edit it from my computer. I can open this with a hex program such as hex editor neo. I am currently trying to get it so I can read the file and have it place corresponding parts in to text boxes that I can alter to suit my needs.
I am new to visual basic and know a tiny bit about C++ if you think I would be better off trying in C# I can try that as well I do know some since learning c++. There are 41 parts to each item listed in the file and each one would need to go in its own text box. In hex there are 348 blocks that need to be arranged in corresponding order. Also the beginning of the file has 6 block followed by a code for each item. I need to find a way to put all the correct code in the correct text box and have it make sense.

I have a master page which contains everything that inherits it within a form. A page inheriting from it needs to run some javascript to act on a text field on a page. However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. The following line will come up bogus: document.form1.txtFindUser.value = blah.responseText; This is because form1 is defined on the master page, while txtFindUser is on the current page.
