Feb 3, 2010I am using SQLite and what I am doing is passing a simple SQL statement to the database, however I want to also return the Unique ID that the insert statement has been entered to, however I am not sure how to do this within a single SQL statement.
My code is below:

Feb 13, 2012I am using VB .Net to access the eBay API and store all completed orders in a database. This database is then fed into a proprietary shipping system, which can not handle an order number larger than 20 characters. eBay returns an order number like so 230407279314-680141236013 which is too long. The order number is always 12 numbers a hyphen and 12 more numbers. What I need to do, is turn this (the result can be alpha numerical) into a shorter, unique order key to store in my database alongside the true orderId (so that this can be referenced by the shipping software instead of the actual order number). The reason for the 20 character limit is the barcode algorithm used. Is there any way to achieve this in VB .Net 2010? This number can be anything unique, so long as it does not exist already (even a good uniqueid function would work, but I would have to query the database to make sure it isn't taken)

I need to create an auto-fill feature for the 1st Combo-Box. It should list the EmployeeID if Search-By Field is specified as Employee-Number. Similarly it should list Employee First Name along with Last Name if the Search-By Field is Employee-Name.
How can I do this? I have no clue, I am doing this for the first time. I am using SQLite, Visual Studio 2010.

I have an EventLog object which inherits DataGridView and has a public variable EventList which is a List(Of EventLogItem). EventLogItem has seven properties which describe the event, including Index which is set to EventList.Count each time an entry is added (so, it should be unique). Everything has worked just fine until I tried to add an entry from a serial port DataReceived event handler upon which I receive the following exception:An error occurred creating the form. Jul 25, 2012I am using VS2008 and SQLite. I have created a database and several tables and am attempting to populate the tables with data from arrays.
The following code (example) works fine but stops after it inserts 30 to 50 records. I am running the VB code in debug mode and when it stops, I press pause to see where it is. It stops on "SQLcommand.ExecuteNonQuery()" and when I press continue (F5) it will insert another 30 to 50 records.
I do not get an error message. Is this a timeout issue? How do I keep the loop running to the end of the array?

May 8, 2011Unique constraint - these columns currently doesn't have unique values..?? I have created Unique Constraint with 3 columns. My code works perfectly but once - two users @ same time entered same data and somehow it saved in DB; after that incident. This UniqueConstraint gives me error - These columns currently doesn't have unique values. How can I check if user enters this kind of entry or how can I restrict the Entry?

I have the entire form complete as well as much of the source code, but I am having trouble creating the code for input validation. On the form I have a text box for entering weight and a text box for entering height, which are both used to calculate the body mass index. Therefore, both text boxes input information cannot be negative or an illegal character ( $, @, !...) The input validation is supposed to present a Message Box that displays something along the lines of "Please enter numeric values" when input values are illegal characters "Please enter a positive number" when input values are negative "Invalid Entry" when input values equal 0

May 4, 2009I would like to format output to a property of a custom control I have made.For instance I have a literal control in my control and when populated I want to check if it is longer than 30 characters long, if so, then go to the next space (as to not cut the word off) after the 30th character and place a <br /> tag in to place the next 30 characters on the next line.So if there were 100 characters in a string, there would be 3 line breaks in the label.I have the looping worked out to get the label populated but cannot get how to dymaically create the array based on the string lenth property and index of method.
