Is there any way to change the default value(s) of controls? How about setting the default value of Textbox.Multiline to True which would make it easier to arrange on the form.

I like to name my controls btnSomething etc... and if i could change the default names of added buttons from Button1, Button2 etc to btn1, btn2 etc.It will save me time when renaming.(Same applies for toolstripmenuitem buttons)Actually what would be ideal is if when i add a button, i directly go to the input for Text, and when i change that for the first time (like with toolstripmenuitems) the name changes according to the text (e.g. when you add a toolstripmenuitem in a context menu strip, if you set the text to "Reset" the name becomes ResetToolStripMenuItem. How can I loop through all the textboxes and set a default value?I've tried the following, but no sucess.

My first For Loop was using Page.Controls but it returned only 1 count.The textboxes are inside a tabpanel (ajax), so do I have to locate the tabpage and then find all it's controls (for each tabpage)?
Is it possible to set a project default for VB.NET winforms projects so that the default Modifier for controls added to winforms is Private (not Friend)?I know there's a "modifiers" property in the properties window so I can set it for each individual control however I would like to change the project so from now on myself and other developers have to specifically decide to change from friend to private. (Which I would strongly discourage them from doing).I believe there is no way of doing this, but on another forum a while ago someone mentioned it would be possible with an add-in (but didn't name the add-in or where to get it).

When I call this sub routine It gives me the Error that Each Optional Parameter must specify a default value. So, Here I can't understand that what can be the default value of a textbox. What default value I can use here to remove this error.
When I set a control to "enabled = false", I want the textbox backcolor and forecolor to remain clear and distinct (white and back - respectively). Is there a place in VS 08 where I can define default appearnce for disabled controls? Or is there a beter way to lock control values other than using "enabled", that woulddn't affect apperance?
View 4 RepliesI have a vb.net 2010 form with 22 data bound controls from two tables held in a dataset which is navigated by a bindingnavigator. This successfully adds deletes and updates. However what I need is when adding a new record I need some of the fields to be pre filled out. More specifically I have points balance fields etc which could be any value but will normally be 0 on a new customer so I want to initialize them to 0 when adding new records.

Is there a way I can add arrows or something to this control so that it is more user-friendly when changing from AM to PM? My users aren't going to know that they need to type out the value for it to change.

I have a vb.net app that uses PrintPreviewDialog to print a document. Now I want the user to be able to print to any printer on the network. So, I created a listbox of available printers which works fine. Now, I need to either change the windows default printer to the one selected, or make the PrintPreviewDialog use that printer name.

I have Excel 2003 and 2007 loaded on my computer. When I open an Excel file, it is defaulting to 2003. How do I check to see what the default program is for opening xls files and change this to 2007 in my code? I have already done the following manually:
1-Open My Computer
2-Go to Tools --Folder options
3-Click the File Types tab
4-Scroll down to the XLS file type and highlight it

I am inheriting my own DataGridView (say MyDataGridView) from the standard DataGridView control. What I want is that certain properties of MyDataGridView should have a different default value than what its base have. For example, AllowUserToAddRows, AllowUserToDeleteRows, AllowUserToResizeRows properties should have the default values of False; so that when I drag MyDataGridView into a form in the IDE, the default values shown in the properties grid should be False. Later on, if I want to change them to True from the grid, they will be set accordingly.
