Importing Solution Files With Windows Forms?

I am working on a vb.net Windows Forms application.I want the application to import Visual Studio Solution files from versions 2005 & 2008 (elsewhere on my Hard Disk).I am using Visual Studio 2010. I want the applicaton to find the files entitled - 'Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 11.00 # Visual Studio 2010.' Thyese are the files I need. I aso know that it will find files - 'Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 9.00 # Visual Studio 2005'.Under is my code thus far. Maybe someone can give me some advice as how to make sure that the applications returns the correct Sln files?

I am building a small Windows Forms application. I need to 'read in' CSv files into the application.
I am using StreamReader to read the CSV files into the application. That is no problem. On my Form I have a text box, 3 Buttons and 2 data grids. With the first 'browse' Button I am using OpenFileDialog to select which CSV file I want to display in the first grid.
Then I want to use a 'convert' button to display the information from the CSV file in a much more 'user-friendly' manner in the second grid. Lastly I want to use my 'export' button to export the converted file to excel.

I wrote windows app to upload files to different FTP sites by picking the files from different folders.A log is displayed by appending text to the textbox at every step.Textbox is ReadOnly.
Issue:When app is loading a bf file to FTP and if user tries to scroll the textbox,the form is hanging and going to Not Responding.?

I am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

I have 5 projects within the same solution file, Im trying to access a form that is part of one of the projects from my startup project.I have looked through the earlier threads and most of them deal with calling forms from within a project.To my understanding ive correctly added the projects to the solution file from File --> Add --> Existing Projects.I have also referenced my Project2 from Project1 but still the intellisense does not let me access form1 of project2 from project1.

I have cooked up my first iteration of a code generator which creates the basic Entity models from a SQL Database Schema. Currently, It will scan a SQL Db Schema, and create .vb code files complete with private members and Public property declarations for every User table in the Database. My next step is having it add the basic CRUD procedures as well. Are we mere mortals able to access whatever technology allows the Partial class files created by vs to be hidden/Linked to their "parent" files, such as the Partial Class files for Windows forms or any other designer-generated control? My thinking is that it would be handy to be able to re-generate code files from the database if necessary to reflect changes in the schema, without overwriting any other properties or methods added to a class in addition to those derived from the database. SO I am hoing I can have the Auto-generated output go to a Partial Class file, and then use a regular class file of the same name for the rest of the code. My Concern is the multiplicity of files that might result, so I was hoping it is possible to "tuck them in" to the parent code file in the Class View.

I inherited a DLL project developed in VB6; this project has to be integrated to a VB.NET GUI. At the moment, the project is integrated succesfully except for one detail that it is taking a lot of my time.
Every time that has to load a form from the COM DLL, the execution of the program loops and gives an OutofMemoryError -- I imagine the error is because the executing is looping by trying to load and reload the Form1 from the DLL. So, is it possible to import graphical controls and components along the DLL, such as Form1? or, do I need to separate them in order to import the DLL succesfully?

I am using 2 forms in a solution the first is the application itself (MainForm) while the second is for the settings (SettingsForm) My first question is how to let the (SettingsForm) to Inherits Or Share the Declarations in the (MainForm)? And how do I it Save Load , the settings if changed when the application is closed Some applications use *.ini files to save it's settings but I don't know how to load it back I may save it with this code:

We use a program, called CFPS (a flight planning program) and it creates different flights. I can export this file to a CRD-type. When I open it in Wordpad or something, it looks very familiar to a XML-file ("<item></item>...")...but I don't find a way to read it. What is the best way to handle this problem? It would be time saving if I can import these files directly in my program.

I barely know VB at all, but I managed to build an application with it, to import some text files into a database. So my problem that is left is that I need to install the application on the server and setup the scheduled task. I have the setup project built, but I can't figure out how to publish it so I can put it onto a CD. I am working in Visual Studio 2005.

I am working on a solution that contains 2 projects one to be built as an exe and the other as a service. Both projects will share a class for certian functions and properties. I would like to have both projects use the same physical file so when I make a change in one of the projects it is also made in the other.
This was simple to do in VB6 but as of yet I see no way to do it under dot net. It seems to want to make a copy of the file and place it into the project folder for the second project resulting in the need to either copy after every change or manually make the changes twice.
Anyone know if there is a way to have common files area for a solution so that any project within the solution has access to the actual file rather than a copy of it?

What i want to do is when button1 is clicked it disables tmr1 on the main form, and then opens up an instance of a new form, when that instance form is closed, the tmr1 on the main form is enabled again....how do i enable the timer control when the instance is closed?

how to best go about this project. I have just been given the task of creating a program that will primarily be used to import and sum a excel or text file that is tab delimited. As a quick example the file would be in the following format:[URL]The problem is that I would need to store this information locally (unless you know better) because I need to be able to append information to this from a second (or third, fourth, etc...) file and re-sum it, lets say that this is the second excel file that I needed to sum:

I would have to append the week5 and week6 columns and add the Neapolitan row to my summation. This program will then format the sums into a list of the different flavors and the sums of all products sold during the total weeks and output to a text file.I have informed my employer that it would be easiest to do this with a VB script in excel, however, they are adamant that they want this done in VB.NET with a GUI.

I need to dump a bunch of delimited data to Excel. In VB6 days, I would save the data to a text file, then use ExcelApp.ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add (blah blah blah...) to import the data to Excel (I got this code from recording a macro while manually importing a text file).In VB.NET (2005), QueryTables does not appear to be an option for ActiveSheet.I could take the long path and manually parse thru the data writing to individual cells - however if I could just import it, it would be much faster.Part of the issue is not being able to record a macro in Excel in .NET format.So my primary question is, how do I import a delimited text file in to Excel without having to manually parse the data into individual cells.Secondary question is any tips for not being able to have ready made examples (in VB .NET format) by recording a macro.

I am on a project helping to analyze the load a VB.Net WinForms application can take. This app has been in production for several years and has many many products on it. We plan to add more products but see the client footprint rapidly increasing. This is contributing the degradation of performance on the system overall.There is duscussion that moving the UI intensive portions of the app to ASP.Net it will reduce the client footprint and solve many of our issues.My question which of the following will scale better in terms of performance and load? I need to be able Import and Export data from my database in the app im developing. I have been having trouble finding the proper way to do this. I have to assume some of the people using this wont have Office installed so this process as to be able to work on its own. Im using Visual Basic Express with SQL server 2008. Using LINQ to SQL with a local database. I would like it to be a simple process for the users.

I've inherited a .NET app to support / enhance which reads in a couple of files of high hundreds of thousands of rows, and one of millions of row.The original developer left me code like :-

I can have all the projects existing in the same solution, and it builds fine. I can have a reference added to the project that I want to show a form from and still builds fine, every time I do something like this: Dim form_to_show as new Project2.Form1 form_to_show.show() It appears to corrupt the RESX file and stops compiling...it's really getting anoying..

I am trying to make part of a form program do the following When I exit a text field, I want to import some datainto a datagridview control.The columns are (1)Key, (2)Location, (3)Part Number, (4)Serial Number, (5)Description.There are up to 1000 rows of data in anyone of the spreadsheets I am working from.By using a datagridview, I can click the header and sort the data by either of the 5 columns, and when I select a data row, the Key number is reported back (for now, into a text box)I will be using the key number to further manipulate the spreadsheet after I have solved this problem.There are thousands of articles on DataGridView, and over the past 8 days, I think I have read them all.
