Importing All Files In A Folder (all Excel Files) Into A Single Table In An Access Database
Aug 23, 2011I am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

CRD Files - Importing Directly Into Program?
Dec 17, 2010We use a program, called CFPS (a flight planning program) and it creates different flights. I can export this file to a CRD-type. When I open it in Wordpad or something, it looks very familiar to a XML-file ("<item></item>...")...but I don't find a way to read it. What is the best way to handle this problem? It would be time saving if I can import these files directly in my program.

May 2, 2011I am building a small Windows Forms application. I need to 'read in' CSv files into the application.
I am using StreamReader to read the CSV files into the application. That is no problem. On my Form I have a text box, 3 Buttons and 2 data grids. With the first 'browse' Button I am using OpenFileDialog to select which CSV file I want to display in the first grid.
Then I want to use a 'convert' button to display the information from the CSV file in a much more 'user-friendly' manner in the second grid. Lastly I want to use my 'export' button to export the converted file to excel.

Sep 10, 2009I barely know VB at all, but I managed to build an application with it, to import some text files into a database. So my problem that is left is that I need to install the application on the server and setup the scheduled task. I have the setup project built, but I can't figure out how to publish it so I can put it onto a CD. I am working in Visual Studio 2005.

Jan 4, 2011I am working on a vb.net Windows Forms application.I want the application to import Visual Studio Solution files from versions 2005 & 2008 (elsewhere on my Hard Disk).I am using Visual Studio 2010. I want the applicaton to find the files entitled - 'Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 11.00 # Visual Studio 2010.' Thyese are the files I need. I aso know that it will find files - 'Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 9.00 # Visual Studio 2005'.Under is my code thus far. Maybe someone can give me some advice as how to make sure that the applications returns the correct Sln files?

Mar 18, 2011how to best go about this project. I have just been given the task of creating a program that will primarily be used to import and sum a excel or text file that is tab delimited. As a quick example the file would be in the following format:[URL]The problem is that I would need to store this information locally (unless you know better) because I need to be able to append information to this from a second (or third, fourth, etc...) file and re-sum it, lets say that this is the second excel file that I needed to sum:

I would have to append the week5 and week6 columns and add the Neapolitan row to my summation. This program will then format the sums into a list of the different flavors and the sums of all products sold during the total weeks and output to a text file.I have informed my employer that it would be easiest to do this with a VB script in excel, however, they are adamant that they want this done in VB.NET with a GUI.

Nov 11, 2009I need to dump a bunch of delimited data to Excel. In VB6 days, I would save the data to a text file, then use ExcelApp.ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add (blah blah blah...) to import the data to Excel (I got this code from recording a macro while manually importing a text file).In VB.NET (2005), QueryTables does not appear to be an option for ActiveSheet.I could take the long path and manually parse thru the data writing to individual cells - however if I could just import it, it would be much faster.Part of the issue is not being able to record a macro in Excel in .NET format.So my primary question is, how do I import a delimited text file in to Excel without having to manually parse the data into individual cells.Secondary question is any tips for not being able to have ready made examples (in VB .NET format) by recording a macro.

Aug 7, 2009I have inherited a VB.net web app that I'm making some changes on. I'm perfectly capable with the programming side (VB and MSSQL) but I'm getting lost with the tools. I was given a zip file of the code and everything. I opened the sln file in Visual Studio 2005 and it worked fairly easily with little modification.
Running the app works perfectly. Problem is, I need to write some new SPs so need the database admin. SQL Server 2008 Express is installed but it doesn't see any database and I have no idea how to import it.I have a folder App_Data in the project with the file ASPNETDB.MDF. Opening this in VS gived the error: This server version is not supported. You must have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later.

By CLicking Button Importing members.php list in to our program so we can see all the new members that have registerd
This is good for our modirator so they can keep an eye out on new members

I click button and my program grabs my user list from my website and puts it in my list box ( but program will have to go to page 2 then 3 and so on and so on )

Now I had thought of importing the text file into a database using Access, but not had a lot of luck making it work. The question is is it better to load the data in the project as a text file then search for the string required or to convert it into a database. (The text file is a list of airports and related data.) Can a text file be converted to a Microsoft compact SQL database?

Jul 20, 2010Is there a routine that will allow me to import data from an excel spreadsheet into a database within my project? I only need to do this to populate the the database I have created in my project.
While the project was being developed I used junk test data for testing and debugging but now I wan to populate the database with the actual records.
Here is the skinny:
In the project database I have the following fields:
ItemID - Primary key
SamCode
[Code].....
Column B contains the Full Name Data where B1 in a column header Column C contains the UPC Numbers needed where C1 is a column header
As stated this is a one time deal and not something I need to run as part of the application.

Jul 30, 2009Having a slight permission problem with Win 7 I am guessing it will be the same on Vista but work fine on XP (yet to try)But my program is sitting in: C:Program FilesCompanyProgram And its trying to create new files alongside itself in the Program Files area but bombing out which I know is permissions. If I go there to create the file myself it comes up with a UAC prompt and when I hit allow it works fine but obv the program can't do that byiteslf so bombs out.Is there anyway I can over come that without the user having to grant admin rights to the program each time it starts or do I have to write data to another place?

Mar 4, 2010in the current project im making i've decided to add in some tools, 1 of which is a renamer based of a renamer app that already exists (called scdtoolz), i want to build my own version of it so i can learn some new things, and build a nice GUI version of it.[code]So what i have managed to determine is that the current app scans the folders contents for the CRC32 Checksum, and renames based of that, since the 456.bin's CRC32 Checksum was 2274F80B, and in the text file 2274F80B is found here 'WWF - Rage in the Cage (T-81015)(U)#2274F80B#'So now i have determined game identification is based of the CRC32 checksums, how would i go about coding a similar ap in vb.net?first i need to make the app scan a folder, but how to return crcchecksum? and then rename if check = XXXX? If MD4 sums are easier/simpler i can use those instead, im lookin at a few hash app sources now, so i think i can see how to get the md5 but not the crc32 yet, or how to rename the 2 files and folder based of the text file.
