How do I paint non client area in Windows Vista or Seven?
I don't want to use extending frame or another transparent form.
If it works on Xp,too it's better for me.
Please help me in VB.Net or C#.
I guess thats what I need to do, Im trying to allow the user to right click on the top of my form, and my custom Context Menu Strip is displayed, not windows context menu strip. I guess somehow i would need to get the size and draw a rectangle on the non client area and see if the user has right clicked in that rectangle? if so how would I get the area of the non client area?
View 7 RepliesI am working on a spreadsheet-like custom control, manually painting all cells according to its bounds and indexes. All is working fine until I populate it to upto a hundred rows (with fixed 6 columns). Basically my sheet expands itself to fit all cells, so to use it properly on a form, I use a panel with autoscroll = true and with my sheet inside. The problem is, the control flickers a lot, which I think is caused by painting ALL of the cells. Is there a way to paint only the visible area.?? So when I scroll down, the control would paint only the visible cells on that area. What I am thinking right now is to not put it in a container, but rather, put a scrollbar in my control. Then that scrollbar would then handle the setting of visible cells, and then my paint event would only paint that visible cells. I am using VB btw, .NET 3.5.. I cant put the code in here cause its separated in different classes(Cell, CellCollection, Rows, Columns, Range, Worksheet, etc.)

View 7 RepliesI am working on a library of controls that clone Office 2010's Ribbon interface and theme. One of the controls will inherit the form control and will modify the ribbon to implement Aero Glass. This is what I have so far... In order to get the same look and feel, I've extended the aero glass margins exactly far enough to get this effect for the top 50 or so pixels. The ControlBox property is set to false, so that there's not an extra 30 pixels at the top that I don't do anything with, but now I need to get the
View 9 RepliesMy VB.NET app supports several kinds of MDI child forms. Some kinds, but not others, are 'troublesome' -- they cause the focus mechanism to become weird. Once a 'troublesome' child form has been opened, NONE of the MDI child forms will become activated unless I click on either the title bar or the border. Clicking in the client area does not activate the child form -- its title bar remains gray, and it does not receive Activate or GotFocus events. Strangely, however, the clicked-on form actually DOES receive the focus, because its controls receive mouse and key events. Only the Z-Order and the highlighting do not change.
Once this problem develops, it persists even after the 'troublesome' form is closed, and it affects child forms which are opened afterward. However, if ALL of the child forms are closed, the problem clears up, and new child forms behave normally -- until the next 'troublesome' form appears.
I have no idea why one kind of child form is troublesome, and others are not.

The client area of the picture box should not be clipped.Right now the picture box is set to dock fill, but if the code resizes it, the form does not follow it. Is there a binding somewhere I can use?
View 2 RepliesI'm writing a simple paint program in VB 2008 that allows the user to create rectangles using MouseDown event to anchor one corner, MouseMove to stretch (or grow) the rectangle, then MouseUp event to complete the rectangle. The last statement in the MouseDown event is Me.Invalidate() to trigger the form's paint event where all the rectangles are drawn (refreshed).

What is the correct way to find the client area of the webbrowser control, WITHOUT the scroll bars ?
Any area/rectangle I get from the control seems to give me the entire control size, including scroll bars wether they are there or not.
I have tried detecting whether scroll bars are present and finding how wide they are to subtract from the entire control width, but have found no reliable way to acheive this.
I am trying to find the actual size of the window I can see if when the web browser control is showing the web page, not including the scroll bars.
I have an application (chat) that I am developing for our company (special requirements). We are mostly using WinXP computers. I want it to be topmost and docked to the right, the problem is, I don't want it to overlap other windows that people are working on.

I am trying to make a program that allows me to operate a program while I am not around (kind of like a bot) because I need to move alot of things and do the same motion over and over.
So in my program's settings I have made a form that is transparent that I want to set my working area with (i wont be resizing the form, it's size is "975, 575") and save the forms Top, Left, Bottom, Right positions so I can create a macro for my mouse to click.
how to save a forms position on the screen? So I can use it to set a working area?
I just want to save its current location to 4 variables

I have a custom bar code app running on .Net 2.0 framework and installed on a Windows Terminal Server. I'm using HP type thin clients and they are pulling their desktop from the TS that has my barcode app installed on it.For the most part, the barcode app runs with no problem. The only issue I have, is that my barcode app needs to print labels to a specific printer based on the work center that the thin client is located in. The barcode app was designed to route the labels based on the device name (Windows name) of the system that the barcode transaction originated from.I have full blown Windows XP Pro systems also running the barcode app and I have no problem with the label routing because each of those type systems has a unique name that I can use for routing. Where I'm running into a problem is that the barcode app running from the thin clients, appears (from the barcode app's point of view) to running from the Terminal Server not the individual thin clients.
Does anyone have any idea how I can pull some type of unique identifier from these thin clients to use within the barcode app to use for routing of the labels?
