When I execute the code provided, Word 2010 opens and appears visible and then stops with an error: "COMException was unhandled". But if I execute the code line by line (F8), the code runs perfectly, that is Word 2010 opens, it is visible and the template is opened. The error fails (always) on the third line of code. What is going on and how might I fix it? [Code]

I have a simple poker game that deals out 9 cards into pictureboxes and shows another 3 pictureboxes that hold cards for the dealer. The code itself does what I want it to...even though I'm at a dead end with writing the code further to evaluate the poker hands. I would simply like to add a few labels and a combobox to my form, but everytime I add something, or try to add it I get cast error?

Dim dealtCards As New List(Of String)

While a fairly simple form it has had its problems. The latest is an error message (see below) that I do not understand and hence cannot correct. I have looked at the other postings, but did not see one that would apply.

I'd like to write a simple Windows form that will make it easy to record a voice message before uploading it to a remote web server and sending the URL to the recipient(s):
[URL]
Currently, the user has to use Sound Record to record the message, use an FTP client to upload it to a web server, and finally, use an e-mail client to send the URL. I'd like to combine those three features into one.

I want it so when the "x" button is clicked a message box will appear saying "Are you sure you want to exit?" then if "yes" it closes and if "NO" it stays open. so my code is:
Dim a As Integer
a = MessageBox.Show("Are you sure you want to exit?", _
"Vice Versa 1.0", _
CODE:...................
This should work, no? When i debug my project clicking "no" still exits my program. Is this just because it's in debug mode or am i missing something here?
Also no warnings or errors. Is there a way i can make my game pause when the message box shows? I only have it working to if the users presses "p" on keyboard. But also want game paused when message box shows, without pressing "p"

I've got a form that opens up whilst data is being pulled from the database in another form (basically a box to say it's loading), the form opens when I want it to and the gif shows but doesn't run until the code on the other form has finished.

We have a purchased application written in Visual Studio 2005 that uses tab controls for displaying information. One of the tabs is for reporting and I am trying to run some code to enable and disable a Validate button. It has a proprietary report component (LxReportView1) that is initially disabled. As user enters information, the Validate button is used to check for required fields. After data entry entries have been validated, user click Validate one last time and record gets flagged as validated and report component (LxReportView1) gets enabled for use. Ideally, whenever this Report tab is clicked, it will run my code EACH TIME.[code]Works fine when user's first action is to bring up a record that has already been validated. So when user clicks on Report tab, report component LxReportView1 has been enabled for use and the Validate button has been disable just as designed. Problem is that given a list of records, if user selects a record that has NOT been validated yet and then later on brings up another record that has been validated, code does not run. How can I get this code to run EACH and EVERY TIME the form loads.

I'm not asking how to exit the program( dispose() ) instead I have a program that checks if a certain process is running and if so it displays a message box, stops the process and (Should) exit the program. If the process is not detected then the program loads normally and opens an external program. My problem is that it stops the process and still runs the program. How can I fully stop the code and exit my program?

When I run my application and click the exit button, in debug mode I can still see my application running. How can I stop this? I don't want to forcefully end the application, I would like to find out what section of code is still running so I can end that instead abruptly ending the program.

If the application is already running, and someone tries to launch it again, set the focus on the already-running program, and exit the one recently launched. I found this, but I don't know how to get the already-running process hwnd. It should be
Dim handle As IntPtr = Process.MainWindowHandle
But that doesn't work.

I have a form which I use to read data from a text file and export it to an excel template file. The data it reads is constantly updated so I would like to add a check box to cause the data to be read every 10 seconds. It's set up so the user can either do one quick scan by clicking a button, or they can click the button while also having the check box checked and it will scan every 10 seconds.The problem is, once I check the check box, I can't uncheck it. I have created a greatly simplified version of my original code to demonstrate this concept.

find a current and simple way to do this. I'm using VWD Express 2008 and SQL Express 2008.I'm able to get the client's path to the image file using an asp:FileUpload control on the web form.How do I upload the client's image file and display it in the web form's image control?How do I save it to the sqlserver? The image table is already set up with a "Image" data type column. Can the image be saved to the database as simply as other data types?

I have an object Order with a simple event, Public Event ErrorOccurred(ByVal msg As String)that I raise in the constructor like so when an order cannot be found (along w/setting a boolean error flag:
RaiseEvent ErrorOccurred("This order does not exist in the database.")
[Error] = True
I have a webform subscribed to the order's ErrorOccurred event:
Public WithEvents o As New Order
and I have an error handler method on the form:
Private Sub OnErrorOccurred(ByVal msg As String) Handles o.ErrorOccurred
litMsg.Text = "<p class=""error-confirm"">" & msg & "</p>"
End Sub
When a textbox is changed, it autoposts back to the page and employs the following logic:
Private Sub txtOrderID_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object,_
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtOrderID.TextChanged
If IsNumeric(txtOrderID.Text) Then
[code]....
When there is an error (when the Else logic is run), everything performs as expected except the event does not fire. However, since the Error flag is set to true, it means the event MUST have fired, since that line executes AFTER the RaiseEvent line. I've tried everything I can think of, but I cannot figure out what could be wrong. I have events strewn everywhere in my project and they all work well using virtually the same structure.

When I close my VB.NET application it occasionally yields the following error code: The program '[1584] Foo.exe: Managed' has exited with code -1073741819 (0xc0000005). This error only occurs when one of the MDI child windows is maximized and then the program is subsequently closed. When I step through the code, the error appears to be generated after the execution of my "custom" code is complete. What might be the cause of such an error? Where might I find more information about this exit code (Google and Bing were little help - maybe I didn't search for the right thing)?
