VS 2005 : Generating A Folder Tree Using Regression?
Apr 1, 2010
This problem has been doing my head in all day and wouldn't mind a bit of advice. Basically I have a table in my db called tblTree which looks a bit like this :
TreeId, ParentId
1 0
2 0
3 2
Each row represent a folder. The TreeId is a unique Primary Key.The ParentId refers to the folder this belongs in so in the above example TreeId 3 is a folder created in the the folder represented by TreeId 2.The 0 in ParentId represents the root. How in Gods name am i supposed to create a folder structure using this table?
How can i stop it creating these 2 files i have turned off the option to generate the XML doc file under compile options and have None as the general debugging info and they keep reappearing in the release folder!
I am working in VB2008. I don't know what process is started when a user double clicks on a folder to display its contents. I am working on an application where I store paths to various folders in a database that is displayed in a treeview. I would like to be able to select a node in my tree and then pass the path to the associated folder to the application which can display the contents of the folder. I need to know the name of the application or process that I am trying to startup to display my folder contents.
I have a list of my menu strip in a table with columns
1.SlNo 2.Menu Name 3.Menu Parent No (SlNo of Parent Menuname)
I need to load this menulist from table to a tree view. As if they are in the Menu Strip. That is Sub Menus Should Come under Appropriate Main Menu upto 4 levels of sub menu i use.
I want to select a node from my tree view, whatever I select is going to get a record from my database, I need a unique ID in each node so it will collect the correct document relating to the selected node.
How can I do this? the name of the node maybe used more than once? Each row in my database has an ID and Title, the title is the name I guess the ID being unique needs to be tied in somehow.
I am not the original author of this software project and the code is poorly documented. I am mainly a Java/C++ developer. The program displays the tree structure and allows files and folder to be selected. The program is getting errors with FileSystemTreeView when trying to return nodes on a system with a reserved partition. Here is what is happening: tree.SelectedNode = tree.Nodes(0) 'returns error with system reserved partition.calling, GetDriveList() will properly return all the drive letters - and not throw an error. Only when trying to get a tree.Node() or tree.load() is the error occurring.
I thought I was done with the tree view control until i realised that my tree view control was behaving differently when it came to sub nodes . I have attached my treeview pic and also a sample tree view.
(-)D: |_config.msi |_netfile.sys
[Code]....
Since I clicked on subfolder1 i was expecting the msgbox to display D:Folder1Subfolder1 but unfortunately the msg box doesnto even have the name of the node i clicked on but when i use selectednode.text I get the correct node text. Anyways why isnt my full path working. I then tried manually designing the entire scenario using tree node editor and the code which i mentioned above works. But whenever i populate the trr programatically the above problem starts.
I've been obsessed with this since I explored it this morning. The post by John Wein shown here fostered a renewed thought about something I've wanted to do for a long time: Generate a "safe" list of folders/subfolders to search in. Whether we're trying to copy or just look through them to show them in a list or whatever else, invariably we're faced with the exception of "Cannot access", usually due to System Volume being attempted to be accessed.John came up with a brilliant strategy in that it's effective, fast, and done with such little code! My hat's off to you John! Now to the purpose of this post. I've taken his code and modified it (only to be run in debug mode so you can see exceptions) and I'm wondering if anyone would care to set up a little test project and run it also - so we can see if in fact we may now have an effective means of generating a list of safe folders/subfolders as preface for whatever other file operations happen next?
Copy and paste the following and let me know the results? Change the drive/folder as you like and let me know if it runs into an exception?
A long time ago. before .Net net existed, I used an automated and a graphical tool. It seens to me that it was made by Microsoft. Is there a graphic regression testing tool that anyone knows of?
I have a button which on click creates a folder where the user wants. But as soon as the folder is created i want to save its name to the database(Access) The database contains one column named "FolderName"
Here lies my code that i tried:
Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Dim con As OleDbConnection
I have data that are numbers both on x and y and have charted them using mschart 4.0
I need to add a trend line/linear regression to a bunch of points I have. The data on x and y are both numbers (no dates anywhere), for instance (33.4,45.1) would be a point.
In the samples I downloaded from the first link I found a linear regression sample in the code files forecasting.aspx(.cs), and I found this ms documentation
I have added a linear regression line to the chart with the following line (once all other data it setup etc)
The problem with both of these is that they assume dates are used. I went ahead and implemented it anyway, but my regression line starts at around the x value of 20, and will go to an x value of the max x value of one of the points (almost 70) if I give the parameter Period a value of 700. But since it doesn't start at x value 0 I don't trust it is correct.
I am doing regression testing using NUnit, WatiN and VB.net. What I am doing is opening an IE page, selecting some data, making a registration and then on view registration page testing the registration by assertion. Any good way to use try and catch on every assert. i am using it because if some assert fails it will stop executing the rest of the statement and quits without running rest of the tests. Now I have put try and catch on every assert and writing the fail message in log file.
For instance If I am checking for some airline reservation booking. After creating a booking, On view Booking Summary Page I am testing weather it is displaying cancel booking button or not. For this I am using the following code: Try Assert.IsTrue(_internetExplorer.Button(Find.ById(New Regex("CBooking"))).Exists) Catch ex As Exception d_logger.LogResultTextFile("Cancel Button does not Exist", True, False) End Try I am checking this by running this in a loop for no of bookings created. I want to keep running the test even if in one booking it wont finds the button but keep checking for other bookings.
I have a set of x, eg 288, data values. The user wants to fit a regression to a subset of this data, eg (2 - 200), then she wants to analyse within a subset of this fitted range, eg at 20 and 100. So, on my form are four Hor. Slider Bars, to set the lower and upper bounds to the fitting and the analysis. The two that set the lower bounds work fine. The two that set the upper bounds are getting corrupted somehow outside of my code and I do not know how to solve this problem. What happens is that when I click on the right hand arrow on the slider bar, the program runs through my function with the correct values whilst the arrow is down, goes out of my code and then immediately comes back into my code, but with the wrong value set into the Hor. Slider Bar fields that I am working with, eg the .Value field. The new value is always 9 below the maximum that it can be, but I can see no connection to this number.
I have a really quick question. I want to get the "tree" of C:\, I am thinking of starting cmd.exe with a few parameters - but how do I set the "working directory" to "C:\"? I guess I could try MSDN, but I doubt I'll find a clear answer there.
This code uses the application startup path as a working directory:
CODE:
I want to get the "tree" starting from C:\. Is it possible to give it two or more commands in a row? I was thinking of just cd..ing, I guess I could sendkeys to it too, but that would just be super inefficient. If there is a way to get the whole "tree" using VB.NET - that would work as well. I've never used a background worker before - is this a good situation to use it in?
I just want to ask if you have encountered that the anti-virus treat the .exe files in bin folder as virus threat....If you have, can you please tell me what to do?
I saw some applications where the Bin folder (debug and Release) contains images and databases. How is this done? Are files manually put there? meaning do I have to copy and paste it or there is better way?
I want to lock the folder.[URL] Suppose mine foldername is sonia ,In the codeProject code,he is renaming the folder to sonia.{2559a1f2-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0} & password is set & that password is written to xml file in the folder sonia only...next time when we double click on folder sonia.{2559a1f2-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}..form is dispayed it which we have to give the password.firstly i do not want to change the folder name.I want that it still remains sonia, even after locked...Secondly,If we rename that folder by right clicking the properties & remove .{2559a1f2-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0},I can view the contents of the folder..
I need hep to make a buton, where you click it, then it downloads a file to a set folder, i have tried this forever, and i need a button to launch a program
I have a combobox1 that contains a list of folder paths that i created using the create folder button click event....Now on selecting any of the files from the combobox1 dropdown list, and entering the name of the .txt file in combobox2.....i want the file to be created in the above selected folder.......
In the database i am saving the enitre path of the newly created folder along with the folder name..... but i want to save only the folder name in the database.... How to do this?
I have created a project where I can attach files and I am displaying the name of the file, example:
Mytestfile.doc mytestfile.txt Mytestfile.pdf
I have the names being displayed on a listbox, so far everything is working just the way I expected to work. When a file is selected from my opendialogbox, the file gets saved into a folder under my local disk, so far so good. The problem that I am having is deleting the file from the folder.I have added a delete button and I would like to when I click or highlight one of the file names to go into where the file was saved previously and deleted This is the code that I have for the delete funtion:
[CODE Dim sFileName As String = "C:program filesSupport DeskAttachments" & ListBox1.Text System.IO.File.Delete(sFileName)][/code]
The problem is that if I add the code to the clcik event under the listbox, it works great, but if I add the code to the click event under my delete button, it doesn't work, what I found is that under the path, if I am under the click event from the listbox when it gets to the lisxtbox.text it displays the file name, which is what I whant, but when i tried the code under the click event under my delete button the listbox.text is blank.
theFolderBrowser.Description = "Please select a folder for the download." theFolderBrowser.ShowNewFolderButton = False theFolderBrowser.RootFolder = System.Environment.SpecialFolder.Desktop theFolderBrowser.SelectedPath = My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.Desktop If theFolderBrowser.ShowDialog = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then Me.TextBox1.Text = theFolderBrowser.SelectedPath End If
I added the above code in the button click event and it worked perfectly.I have created a folder in d:movieshorror. Now i want to make the horror folder present in the path mentioned above as the root folder(not the desktop)Then sir what will be the following two
