Problem: Calling a method which uses a cell's value from a DataBound DataGridView. Works as desired without adding an image column.When I add the image column, the method attempts to use the value from column 1 instead of column 2, as the code in the 2nd method below ("findSign") states:

I have a ListView control where rows have alternate colors with a small image appearing on some of them. And I wonder why the first column appears as if it were blank just as shown below?In fact, the selected row (right above the arrow) doesn't include the first column. How can I fix this 1st-column problem? I don't think you need to see it, but I use the following code to have alternate colors.
Dim myColor1 As Color = Color.FromArgb(210, 240, 250)
For i As Integer = 0 To ListView1.Items.Count - 1 Step 1
If i Mod 2 = 0 Then

Is there a way to add an image to a column that also contains text? preferably one from an imagelist control..
View 3 Repliesis it possible to center an image in a listview column. Right now my image is stuck in the left.

i mean, if i have an update button for inserting images and i have got another navigator which adds information to the database, how could i delete a selected row in sql server database...In dataset, i used to remove a specific row in database by doing:
me.customersbindingsource.removecurrent()
So, this one doesn't delete anything when the image is included.

I need to be able to sort a DGV image column by clicking on its header. I set the sort mode to automatic in the designer, but when I click on the header nothing happens. Are these columns sortable? If so, what do I need to do?

View 2 RepliesI support a .Net 2.0 Windows application that has a custom listview control to allow for greater flexibility. I am not allowed to bring this to a newer version of the gramework until next year. We are moving from XP to Windows 7, and we have identified an issue with how the column sort image (up/down arrow) is drawn to the listview. Currently in XP, the image is drawn to the right of the column's text. However, in Windows 7, I am getting Access Violation Exceptions. Now, I know that the error is with the improper handling of memory using the unmanaged code as shown below. I am looking for a method to mimic what we have below in a safe manner using managed code.

At runtime, I am adding a DataGridView to a windows form. The final column is a DataGridViewImageColumn:
Dim InfoIconColumn As New DataGridViewImageColumn
MyDataGridView.Columns.Insert(MyDataGridView.Columns.Count, InfoIconColumn)
Adding the following code will get my Information Icon (bitmap) to display in each of the column cells but NOT the column header:
Dim InfoIcon As New Bitmap("C:MyPathInfoIcon.bmp")
InfoIconColumn.Image = InfoIcon
Also, it is worth noting that the image displays 'perfectly' in the cells i.e. it is sized correctly to fit the cell.
However, I cannot find a way to add the same image to the column header cell. After some googling I used the following code which placed the image in the header cell but left me with two problems:
The image did not 'auto-size' to the column headercell in the same way it did when added to the column cells. The image was slightly larger and blurred.
By using the _CellPainting event slowed down performance i.e. when hovering over the DataGridView to highlight the selected row the highlighting lagged behind where my mouse was placed.
Here is the code:

Does anybody know of a way to solve my problem and get a nicely sized, sharp image into a DataGridViewImageColumn headercell at runtime?
Have to say that, i managed to create a code which inserts image into the sql server atabase from vb.net program and its working but doesn't meet my requirments:1. when i run the application, select the image file location, it just saves directly to the db. in this case, i would like to import the image in a picture box control prior saving it in the database.2. whilst i have a navigator toolbar which has things like save button and add new infor buttons, i want to leave other details for that tool bar then the imagebutton should only do one task..thats storing image in database.hers the code i wanna share with you:
Private Sub Imagebutton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles imagebutton.Click

I've been reading a few tutorials online and cant seem to get any of them working. Is there a way to add a image to a column in a grid? I want to be able to pass it a url like [URL]...
View 5 RepliesAn OLE Object column contains images but the image type (jpg/gif/tiff) is unknown. These images need to be extracted from the DB and saved to disk. The application is primarily using VB.NET but C# examples are welcome too.
View 3 RepliesI have an excel sheet with image names in column A. I have a directory (with subfolders) on my network with all the images in there plus some.I need to copy only specific files from one location to another.
View 1 RepliesI want to know how to create an image column in a SQL Server table and retrieve it in ASP.NET using VB.NET create table Tbl(ID int primary key,Name varchar(20),Image ....)
View 3 RepliesI have a SQL database, with some "status" strings. For every status I need to display a .bmp image .
I'm displaying the data from the database via DataGridView with LINQ. In order to display the DGV I have this code:
Me.MyTableAdapter.Fill(Me.TestdbDataSet.MyStatusList)
I was thinking to add another column named "Symbol" and based on the "Status" column to format the cells of the "Symbol" column to display an image.
I edited the DGV, and add a new image column.
I created a directory in my solution called "references" where I put all the .bmp files
I don't know how to do this. My first thought was to put an expression in the DataTable Properties, but I didn't manage to make that work. Another way is to format the cells in the "Symbol" column, and again I don't know how to do that. I tried with "Select Case ... Case ... End Select" with no success.
LE: Should I Insert the .bmp files into SQL database (varbinary(MAX)) If yes, how?

In VB6 you could BITBLT things around before refreshing the screen. In .NET, I'm aware of DrawImage, but that can only be done on a paint event rather than before anything gets painted. The issue I have is, I need to open several files with image data in them and then build a bigger image with those smaller images. Before I could open them, BITBLT them to a Buffer. As far as I can tell .NET offers no way to do this as the only function I've been able to find (DrawImage) only works within the paint event. Is there still a way to do this in VS08 or no?
View 6 RepliesIve been programming in VB6 for years, i figured its time for an upgrade. Here's what im doing, and what the problem is:
Im loading a bunch of pictures on top of one image. They are all PNG files, and some of the images have transparent edges, and some semi-transparency within the image itself.
So basically, i need to be able to load these images on top of the other images, and still maintain the transparency.
Is this possible in VB08? This is one of the main reasons i moved to 08 from vb6, more things possible including multithreading.
I need to know how to use listview, I'm having trouble using it.What are listviews uses?What can be listed in listview?What cannot be listview?If an image is in listview, will it display a thumbnail of the image?
View 4 RepliesI want to draw an image onto another image object but use an alphamask specified from another image that is grayscale.
I am drawing an animation manually so don't want to do this pixel by pixel as this would be extremely inefficient.
I'm having a problem getting the src of the image the mouse is hovering over in a webbrowser. I can get an href just fine, just not an src. To get the href, I used this
Something = Webbrowser1.Document.ActiveElement.GetAttribute("href")
When I try to do it for an image, nothing happens. How do I get the image location?
I am trying to edit an image. I can open the image with Picturebox1.load(mypicture)
I can change the pixels/edit the picture by Dim img as new bitmap(picturebox1.image)

now here is the weird part. When I save the image the filesize INCREASES..but the picture dimensions are the same Example... TEST.PNG 1.3KB, when opened up via picturebox/saved the image is now 2.3KB
not sure why...i even though I specify system.drawing.imaging.imageformat.PNG
samething with JPG... it actually SHRINKS it evenmore.. example 88KB jpeg.. saved as jpeg is now 47.7KB...
How can I set the column width and leave the top 10 rows empty in order to insert an image into my Excel report?

I am trying to read a 16bit binary file (tif image) and pixel values of the image ranges from 1200 to 4500. I tried to use BinaryReader using ReadUInt16 but I get EndOfStreamException Unhandled error. ReadByte method works fine with an 8bit tif file. I do not know how to read a 16bit image file using binaryReader. Shouldn't I use ReadUInt16 since values of pixels range from 1200 to 4500?
