I have a class where there is some private strings to hold some data like name, address, etc. And also a private object of Process class. It also has an "AddHandler" method.
I am using the xmldocument (loadxml) and xmlPathNavigator to parse xml files I am compiling through a incoming stream. The first point of processing the files is to split the file into the different entries and add those to a list. I do this using either xmlPathNavigator or string.split if either one fails.At times both will fail because of some issue in the xml and would still like to salvage the file contents without having to fix the xml. I tried to use regex parsing but its not producing the content as I would like. I use the following code but in the end I do not get all the contents of the entry, only those between some of the tags.
Lets say i have a student table, schedule table and MsgIn table.So my sms application will receive incoming messages and store into the MsgIn table. Eg a msg receive is "S12345678 TT MON" and this message will be store into the MsgIn Table. And a sql query to retrieve the timetable for this student will be like:select Day,Time,Venue From Schedule WHERE Lets say i want to see if the receiving Message of "S12345678 TT MON" which is stored in the MSgIn table. So how to do a query if the S12345678 exists in the student table of the ID attributes and TT MON exist in the student table of the Timetable attributes.

I'm having trouble with a DropDownList within a GridView that posts a NULL value when in fact a value is selected from the list when using inline editing.
The problem is that I can't use this method to bind the value to the UpdateCommand in my SqlDataSource:
SelectedValue='<%# Bind("Value") %>'
The reason for this is because the value might not exist in the list so it throws an exception.
Is there a way I can bind the value to the UpdateCommand without using SelectedValue?
I am writing a basic blog application to learn mvc 3. I have problems retrieving posts by category. The url looks like /Blog/Browse/Category_Name. I can get the posts if i hard code a value for category. So it would seem that Category_Name is not getting pass to my EF statement in my controller. the category had a period in it so it was not matching.
I've seen a lot of posts over time relating to importing and exporting CSV. Most of the answers involve using TextReader.readline and String.split, which will not work with any but the simplest data. When you are writing for users who have the expectation that your application will work with anything they export from Excel, you will have to cover all the CSV bases.
I hope that this post will give you a clear idea of what you're involving yourself in when you decide you need to read a CSV file. The characteristics of CSV data are:The comma character is used to separate the fields. (This is obvious, but I thought I'd start with a couple of obvious points to warm up) The last field on the line is ended by the end-of-line character or the physical end of the file.Any field that contains commas, double-quotes or control characters will be surrounded by double-quote marks. Any double-quote marks within the field will be "escaped" with an extra double-quote character. For instance, the value Paul "Chuck" Norris would be converted to "Paul ""Chuck"" Norris".After the opening double-quote ANY character is valid. Including line breaks. This is why you can't use readline.I have a parser class that works nicely and I'll post that on this thread in a little while, along with some notes on using it.
Ultimately, what I would like to do is upload files directly into the database, so I updated this question with the code I'm using to write to the database. I am developing a module in DotNetNuke using Telerik controls. I need to upload files to the server in the user interface, so I am using the RadUpload control and the RadProgressArea/RadProgressManager.
When I hit the button, it does a postback to the page, but the files do not get uploaded. I tried using the autoupload functions and specifying pysical and virtual paths but that didn't work. I did it exactly like they said. I manually registered the controls in my web.config, then removed them and used the auto-register feature to re-register thinking maybe I did something wrong, but I'm still at a loss.
Here's where I spent the last couple hours: [Upload Overview][3] [Files are not uploaded][4]
get this upload control and progress indicator working?
I have a listview attached to a dbase app I am working on, the last column has a price value and I would like to create a total value for this column in a label or text box below the listview control.I was searching back the old posts looking for some pointers or a code snippet that would do this, but was unable to find anything. i'm using vb 2008.
I've made some good progress with my first attempt at a program, but have hit another road block. I'm taking standard output (as a string) froma console CMD window (results of dsquery piped to dsget) and have found small rectangles in the output. I tried using Regex to clean the little bastards but it seems they are related to the _ (underscore), which I need to keep (to return 2000/NT logins). Odd thing is - when I copy the caharcter and paste it into VS2K10 Express it acts like a carrige return?Going to try using /U or /A CMD switch next..
I am a beginner on Visual Basic but was able to create the 'skeleton' of the application I need to build. Basically, it is an application dedicated to keeping a check on the vinyl I have. When I buy a new record, I want to effectively 'Add New Record' on Visual Basic and be greeted with a page consisting of various forms such as 'Artist' and Title'. Once these are filled in, I want to click 'Enter' and for all that information to be converted to one of the pages within my application.
Here's an easier look at it... There are LPs that have 10" and 12" sections. There are singles that have 7" and 12" sections.
In the 'Add New Record' page I want to also have a drop down list with the above elements in, once 12" LP is selected and all the other forms are filled in and I click 'Enter' - I want the application to send it to the 12" LP section of the application.
I have a little project but ive come to an error. What it does: It goes to a site, fills a form and then submits it. But the submit is too fast. I want it to fill in info, then wait 3 seconds and then submit it.
Here is the WebBrowser1.Document.All("user[screen_name]").SetAttribute("value", TextBox4.Text & intcount) For Each element As HtmlElement In WebBrowser1.Document.All If element.GetAttribute("className") = "submit button promotional" Then element.InvokeMember("click") End If Next I want it to have a little pause of 3 seconds after the intcount).
I need help to form a code for a small arrays manipulation. The input data are known: they are two integers "N" and "s". An integer "N" is always divisible by 4.I need to create an array of "N" members, by repeating (N/4 times) this sub-array: 1,2,2,1 (always is the same). In the picture, this is shown in blue. Then I need to add the same array to the existing array, but shifted for "s" places (red array). The result is "yes" if each sum in new columns is always the same (3). Otherwise the result is "no." note there is no need to draw or display something (DGV, table ...). The required result is only "yes" or "no".
i am creating a shift rota system for a small number of staff basically there is a 3 week rota
week 1 - late week 2 - early week 3 - off
i am getting confused on how to calculate which week the member of staff is currently on eg week 1 / 2 / 3 i think i need a datediff with a mod to calculate it but thats where im getting confused (if im even right on that part)
I'm trying to create a small game in VB2010. The gameplay is as follows:
civilians would walk/stand in a room/street and suddenly an evil character would pop from the ground/wall. This evil character would suddenly vanishes too. So, the player has to shoot it to kill the character. The evil character, civilians, etc. would be random. Also, there would be sound effects too. That is the popping up of the evil character, it's voice, the civilians voice, etc. I'm trying to make it as simple as possible but without degrading the quality of the game play. I think, I could somewhat create the graphics for the characters, scenes, etc. and can get the sound effects recorded.
So, the difficult part is,[ ] how could I make it a smoother for playing the game ? [ ] what would be the best way to do animations ? [ ] Creating a GIF and placing it in the picturebox and moving it ? [x]how to play the music in background and at the same time play sound effects on certain instance ?
I'm basically trying to do a small report card project. I only need to pull 5 Students with each student having 5 Test Scores a piece. The full Code of what I have for the submit button is below. I have actually 3 questions.
1. I always seem to have trouble with them unless I initialize them when I dim them. Is there a better way than below
2. The below code works really well for Student 1 and all 5 test scores. Rather than do that code 5 times though, what is the best way for me to basically state that IF dblStudent1(intMax) = 4 Then Change dblStudent1(intMax) to dblStudent2(intMax) etc.
3. Would this be better suited towards a multidimensional array ?
Private Sub btnEnterGrades_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnEnterGrades.Click
Dim strStudentNames() As String = {" ", " ", " ", " ", " "} ' Holds the 5 Students Names Dim intMax As Integer = (4) ' Place Holder for Student Number
