Under the Event 1 Tab in the project I would like it to have 12 different buttons (6 Start Timers, and 6 Stop Timers) that control the time in the textbox. I'm using Visual Studio 2005, Version 2. I am programming a Windows Application in VB.NET.I have added the dataset, so I have a binding source and a table adapter. I have set the Data Tag of each textbox I need to use to the corresponding column name in the table. So for example, I have an Emergency Call ID textbox and I have set its data tag to EmergencyCallID which is in the database. Not sure if this is necessary though. I have no idea how to edit and update the database using textboxes.

View 16 RepliesI have 3 text boxes that are related on a form. They come from the same dataset and the same table in the dataset. The 3rd textbox is defined in the table as the product of textbox (really the column) 1 and 2. The problem is when I save after changing textbox 1 or 2, 3 does not update reflecting the new product. I have a different form using a different dataset that does a similar setup correctly. What could be the difference between the 2 forms or tables or dataset that I could look for?

View 1 Repliesim still stuck and i really to get past this and move onto the rest of my program. I'm trying to update a textbox with new text from another class on another thread. I can get this to work no problem on another thread with the same class, and on the same thread in another class. but not on another thread on another class. my code looks like this, when it is run to produces no errors but does not add the test to the text box, what is wierd is i had made some changes to the program to add multiplelines to consolebox.text and then checked console.text from form2 and it produces the values i added but those arent reflected inside in the consolebox for some reason.

I have a simple vb.net app and I'm trying to update a one row Access table with data from some textboxes. This is a learning exercise for me as I am coming back from not programming for almost 10 years, and know there are lots of other ways to manage this data, but I'm just trying to understand different aspects of ADO.net a little better.
The ERROR I'm trapping is:

I'm at a complete loss here, its probably me being stupid and missing something simple but i don't appear to be able to update a testbox (CreditInfo) on Form1 from a module (SerialData). It doesn't give any errors, it just doesn't work. If i put a Button on Form1 to update the testbox(CreditInfo) it works... however i need it to be automatic.. Dave

I've written a small application that keeps track of my thesis notes and essentially I have a few textboxes for keywords, ideas and notes. When I type in the textboxes and hit my update button it works fine...when I cut and paste from a text editor into the textboxes and then hit my update button it takes way to long to return control to the form. Is there something I need to do to text that is copied and pasted into a text box before I send it to the database?

I tried to revised the codes, no error in syntax but there's an error at runtime and it pops-up a window message saying its error message. What I want is to edit the records which were retrieved from the database into the text-boxes and when you click the button5 whatever the new value on the text-boxes should replace the previous one.The Account field is the field in my Table1 in memrec.dbml which I set up for primary key is true and the rest of the fields are false in its primary key.[code]...

I am having trouble accessing the main thread (my form) when calling thread is running in a class (or module). I have no problem to manipulate a data (in a thread) from a form, the textbox can be updated using delegate and invokerequired but it doesn't seem as easy when the thread that processes a variable is handled by a thread that is running in a class.

I am making a booking system. I am using same form for insertion and updation. How can I update by taking the values from the textboxes. For example if the user enters value for just 2 out of 8 fields then How can i update just 2 fields without affecting the rest of the record. I mean to say that if I use a single update query using all the fields then if some textbox is left empty then it will replace the database field value by null or something else.
