Make A Program In Which Multiple Files Could Be Saved Into One And Then Unpacked Later?
Nov 18, 2010
I wanted to make a program in which multiple files could be saved into one and then unpacked later. I tried reading and then rewriting the exact strings but it made the files corrupt. I was able to do it with bytes but I'm not sure how I add mutiple files together.
In class i saved my program in with load of other test programs for the same assignment and got everything mixed up i finally figured out what was what and loaded the program in Visual Basic. Now my program doesn't recognize one of my forms when i try to access the design view of it. I hit run for the hell of it and the program runs with errors of course but the form1 "the missing one" shows up with all the buttons etc and i can use it.
I'm trying to create an invoice program in VS2005. I can make the database and insert and save all data regardingthe customer and the vehicle, but cant figure out how to create an input control where random items"car parts" could be inserted and saved. It would

I have a program that works when, a file is opened with it using the right click menu in explorer. But if I select multiple files and then right click and open with my program then it opens multiple instances of my program, instead of just passing the multiple files as arguments to a single instance. The program is written in vb.net but is not a windows form, it is just a module, so I can to tick the Single instance option in the properties in Visual Studio. So how do I open multiple files from explorer context menu in a single instance.
how would I go about making the user access different local SQL databases. As in they use a GUI program to access / read / write data in a database but can also use that same GUI program to do the same to multiple database files. Is that sort of setup easy to integrate into a VB program? or does a VB program by nature only try to access one database? To integrate the open and close dialogs into a VB GUI in terms of different database files, is there much involved?
I need to require the user of this program to select two text files from any directory. I then need to display them in a List View, which I have built. File 1 needs to load into the first column and File 2 needs to load into the second. They will correspond to each other.[code]...
I am trying to create a program which will allow users to select multiple files from a list and then burn them all to a playable DVD. It would be wonderful if i could setup a custom menu programatically as well. I have seen some documentation on Imapi 2.0 but i have not been able to find too much suppoert for it. I have also found a few SDK's out there but most are over $1000 which just isnt in the budget.
1) Is there a library included in windows 7 that will allow me to do this.
2) Is there an inexpensive or open source sdk with good documentation out there to do this with

How do i make a program that can compress files, just like programs like winrar do? Every time i try via something as simple as text editor changing something, then changing it back, then it wont work anymore. Any suggestions on how i can make one of these kinds of compression programs?
I need to have my VB program look for two specific programs in the same folder it is running from. How do I do that? Here is the code for when I run my program. I need it to look for the files that are underlined. They are the tpfh20 and tphd20.
Private Sub btnRunRelap5_Click(ByVal eventSender As System.Object, ByVal eventArgs As System.EventArgs) Handles btnRunRelap5.Click
Dim pathString As String = String.Format("relap5 -i {0} -o {1} -r {2}", txtInput.Text, txtOutput.Text, txtRestart.Text)Dim stripString As String = String.Format(" -s {0}", tbStripFile.Text) Dim guiString As String = " -n gui" Dim waterprop As String = " -w tpfh20 -d tphd20" If Not lblChangeStripFile.Visible Then
My program takes screen shots and saves them but i want to incoorporate a function that allows a user to delete all the images in the file they choose to save them into [code] And its not working the program names each image after the frame that it was taken, ie the first frame is called 1 the second two etc..I want to delete all of the files and the folder that they were saved in but this way doesnt work and is not horribly efficient.filedir is a textbox on the form that the user inputs a save location so thats what i am using to determin files to delete.
i'm making a progam to study, but it has his own save file format. (*.lad)and it get a dirty icon , so i want if i save,or open a file with the progam, the file has his own icon.
I'm developing a command line application in Visual Basic .Net 2005 for converting RTF files into TXT. The application works perfect except for one thing. The files saved with MS Word containing some textbox make trouble. I'll explain it better with an example
1 - I open MS Word, I create a new document.
2 - I insert a texbox and i write some words inside.
3 - I save the file as RTF.
4 - I use my command line application for converting the RTF into TXT. The text inside the textbox doesn't appear anywhere.
The thing is that if I open the RTF file with wordpad it shows the text. It's not in a text box, but it shows it.The problem is that this application will read files uploaded by users automatically so I can't just leave it like this, I have to take into account that there is the possibility that some user will save an RTF file with a textbox inside so I need it to be able to get the contents of the textbox the same way wordpad does.
Here is the code
Try Dim args(2) As String args = System.Environment.GetCommandLineArgs Dim c As New System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox
I only started using visual basic earlier this year so I'm still a newbie but I've been wondering some things:
1. When you have a picturebox back color to transparent, objects under it still get hidden. Is there a way around this?
2. I've been trying to make a program where you can control an object, and it has multiple animations, but I can't figure out a way of doing this other than having a bunch of picture boxes together and making them visible/not visible as needed. Is there a better way to do this?
3. (I think) I know how to make global variables (dim whatever as global.system.integer ? I don't have it on the computer I'm posting with), but how do I make another form use them?
4. Is there a way to have multiple sounds play at the same time? Whenever I play a sound it stops whatever else is playing.
I am just wondering on how can i make a list of recent file opened on my program in vb.net. The recent files filenames must be in a linklabel in a form and in the menustrip.
Basically I download lots of TV shows and they're never named in the way I like; they're named like this "The Office.S06E22.HDTV.XviD-NoTV."So I was wondering if I had a .txt file with all the episode names I could make a program to rename all the video files in the right order so they're named like this "The Office Season 6 Episode 22 - Secretary's Day."So I want to copy and paste a list of correct episodes names into a text file. Then I want to read the text file, which I already know how to do. Then, and this is the bit I'm struggling with, I want to read the text file, one line at a time, and it renames the top video file with the top episode name and so on.
i am trying to make a program where it copies files to a certain external drive, but i cant figure out how to make it to where you enter your drive letter for the external drive and it copies it.
My program has 1,000 + .rtf files and when I publish/Install it's HUGE! 200mb +. I have other apps from other software companies that have more documents than mine, and their entire application is around 50mb. What am I missing here? How do I accomplish the same thing? Does it have to do with the Property Settings of the .rtf files called: "Build Action" and "Copy to Output Directory"? I set my "Build Action" to "Content" for all my .rtf files, and set "Copy to Output Directory" to "Copy Always".
If I want the saved files from a application to get special icons, how do I do that in VB? For a f ew years ago when I programmed to Mac, in RealBasic, it was just to add icons and associate them with the extension.
What is the best way to make a program that works with multiple versions of Microsoft office? I own office 2007, so my program uses the office 2007 com objects. When I try to use my application with office 2003, I get errors related to the com objects. Does Microsoft have com objects that are compatible with multiple versions of office?
