Populate The Structure From The Data File, Then Call The Method To Transfer It Back To The Website?
Apr 13, 2010
I am adding a web interface (ASPX.NET: VB) to a data acquisition system developed with LabVIEW which outputs raw data files. These raw data files are the binary representation of a LabVIEW cluster (essentially a structure).LabVIEW provides functions to instantiate a class or structure or call a method defined in a .NET DLL file.I plan to create a DLL file containing a structure definition and a class with methods to transfer the structure.When the webpage requests data, it would call a LabVIEW executable with a filename parameter. The LabVIEW code would instantiate the structure,populate the structure from the data file, then call the method to transfer the data back to the website.
How do you recommend I transfer (copy) an instance of a structure from one .NET program to the VB.NET program that executed it?

I am trying to call back to a code behind method using Javascript and it seems like the only way to do so is using the Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock() don't need to return any data back to the calling javascript function.

I have problems with array of structures.my structures are like this
structure order
xxxxxxxxxxx
yyyyyyyyyy
zzzzzzzzzzz
end structure
and then I created many array of structures, like this private arrayorder (100) as order
now i need to sort the entire xxxxxx member of the array of the structure with a function, but I dont want to use loops with arrays indexes to access the information. I want to know if there is another method to reference the array and the member of the structure to get the data.

I am trying to automate a process I do with a bank with vb.net. Basically I need to open a website and navigate through it (Automatically through the program obviously), enter a batch ID and enter a file path and name. For some reason when I get to the part where I need to enter the file name and path, it simply will not populate the text. I have attached a word document with screenshots and code. The only difference I can see, is that in the bank website's code the the input type for the file text is "FILE" rather than "TEXT" as it is for the batch id...

I need to explicitly load my data source variables and then call the insert method associated with the data source. The sample VB .net code is listed below. So is it sufficient for me to just call the Insert() method when I am ready to insert my values? Or do I need to create an insert event? You see if I look at the properties window for the data source, there is a lightning bolt icon that will generate events for the data source such as Insert,Inserting,Disposing,Init,Load etc.
Protected Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Me.SqlDataSource1.InsertParameters.Add("@Title", "Mr.")
Me.SqlDataSource1.Insert()

I have a self-hosted WCF service (VB) residing on a server. This service has a method, which I call from another application, that is supposed to kick off a .cmd file which calls a 3rd party program.
My WCF has used both the old Shell() command and the Process() object. Both can call the .cmd file (located on the server's local drive). The .cmd file looks like this:
CODE:
Now I know the .cmd file (saved as Letter.cmd) is firing because when I check the txt file after testing my app, the before/after statements have been written. However, the 3rd party application does not start.
Now the weird part -- if I double click the cmd file from explorer, the test statements are written to the text file AND the 3rd party application kicks off. Runs great.
I've double-checked the application and corresponding files to make sure NETWORK_SERVICE has permissions and my service is running under that account.

I have this method:
Private Sub SetIfNotNull(ByVal input As Object, ByRef destination As Object, ByVal ConversionType As ConversionType)
If input IsNot Nothing AndAlso input <> "" Then
Select Case ConversionType
Case DealerTrackConnection.ConversionType._String
destination = input
[Code] .....
And here is one call in which it fails:
SetIfNotNull(ApplicantElement.Element("suffix").Value, NewApplicant.Suffix, ConversionType._String)
If the element from the XML file is nothing (there is no tag), the method call fails. but I am checking for nothing.

I'm trying to pull data from a website but hit a snag.The website has a structure: Doc.links.Item X.innerText X is a number, 1-150.Two questions:
1) There is a space between "Item" and the number... how do I get VBA to recognize that?
2) I'm searching through the 150 entries to find the ones with useful data... how do I use a FOR loop to put that # in there. In another way, it would usually be a Item(X) index, but if the # is in the actual name.As I said, I'm novice at programming, how do I make this work?

I have a csv file with 48 columns of data. I need to open this file, place it into a data structure and then search that data and present it in a DataRepeater. So far I have successfully used CSVReader to extract the data and bind it to myDataRepeater. However I am now struggling to place the data in a table so that I can filter the results. I do not want to use SQL or any other database.
So far, this is working in returning all records:
Private Sub BindCsv()
' open the file "data.csv" which is a CSV file with headers"
Dim dirInfo As New DirectoryInfo(Server.MapPath("~/ftp/"))
Dim fileLocation As String = dirInfo.ToString & "data.txt"
Using csv As New CsvReader(New StreamReader(fileLocation), True)

I'm able to create a List(Of String) containing a local directory structure of a LOCAL folder. I'm wondering how I would go about getting this structure for a website, in order to get a listing of all files of a particular type (for example: all .html files)
Something along the lines of what Xenu does would be perfect, but I don't know how to get started. I was thinking of doing something with parsing out "/" of the URL, but then you'd need to know the "deepest" file that exists on the site.. which you won't know...
Is there a way to get a folder listing of each directory of a site without having FTP access or something? (I'm assuming no due to security risks)
My only other option would be to crawl all hyperlinks within the site, and storing all the "internal" ones, but I don't know how to set up that loop, or how to know when it has reached the "deepest" level.
Kinda like when you delete a remote folder from FileZilla, it will traverse all sub-diretories first and delete those files.

I am wondering whether I can use DataContractJsonSerializer to serialize a Structure type, or does it have to be a reference/Class type? I have the following code:
<Extension()> Public Function ToJSON(ByVal target As Object) As String
Dim serializer = New System.Runtime.Serialization.Json.DataContractJsonSerializer(target.GetType)
Using ms As MemoryStream = New MemoryStream()
serializer.WriteObject(ms, target)
ms.Flush()
[Code]...
And yet if I call it on a Structure type, such as a KeyValuePair(Of T1, T2), I get the following error:
Public member 'ToJSON' on type 'KeyValuePair(Of String,Object)' not found.
