i want to make a program that take a value of text box and add it to the list box and one button to delete the selected item. i make that and this is my code[code]......
the problem that if the user didn't select an item and press the delete button the program will crush how can i make the button disable until user select item ? i try this code but there is error :[code].......

For instance Each Text file has my old company name and I want to be able enter my new name into the textbox and click the command button and the app will open each text file, find the text that I specify and replace it with my new name then save the file into a specified folder.What elements should I be studying to make this happen? So far this is what I've come up with:
OpenFileDialog - to open the file
StreamReader - to read the text files and find the text that I specified
**Not sure on the replace method**
StreamWriter - to write the text from the textbox to the new file
SaveFileDialog - to save the file to the specified location

what i need to do is to add text in a list box via checkboxes. For example if a check box is checked, then a certain text (e.g. "Flea Treatment") gets added to the list box. In my project there are around 15 checkboxes, and not all of the may be clicked. So what I want to do is, when there are values in the list box (Only words!) then I press the Save button and all the values (i.e. all the treatments, e.g. Flea, de-worming, myxomotosis) inside the list box are saved to my database. The table inside the database, is called tblNotes, and has only 4 fields, one of which is a unique ID field, which is the primary key; the other field is the one where I want the values inside the list box, to be saved. As for the other two, they are for standard textboxes, with a fixed length, they are already working.My problem is this: The list box won't save to the database, and I want to know how I could save it. In trying to figure that out, un-installing, and reinstalling, running virus scans, etc, I have lost a lot of my time to get this assignment done. I would just keep messing around with it and try to be further along, but I must move on.
We have a form application with 3 tab pages. The first tab page takes input for first name, last name, phone, birth month, and birth year in textboxes. This info is to be written to a file. The next tab page has a read button that then displays the data into a list box. The next tab page has a text box to take input for a birth month and then searches through the file and lists any file that matches that birth month.
The whole thing then needs to be serialized and deserialized.I will post what I have so far. My first question is what do I need to do to get it to read into the listbox? I have tried multiple things. None work. After the issues I had with my visual basic, I don't know if for sure it is me, (most likely), or the software.For the display, we are supposed to use an overloaded ToString method in another class. Do I have to use an array?

I am attempting to get my program to store its, in this case, a Url list in a text file. This should be relatively simple and so far it has been, writing to the document has been easy and it has all worked well, however, I have been trying to get my program to remove a url from this list too. To achieve this I have created a temporary text file, named 'FavouritesTemp.txt' and write the content of a listbox (with the target of the delete command removed from it) and then replace the old text document with the new one. But I keep getting an error from this - saying that a process is already accessing this file, even though I have just created it! I have attached a picture of my error and the code I am using underneath.

View 2 RepliesIt seems simple enough, but apparently I cant figure it out. Theres more to my actual problem, but once I figure out this concept then I can do the rest. I want to search a list for a given string, and if it matches, then print it out. If it doesnt match, then it moves to the next item in the list. If if doesnt find any matches, it says "no matches found".

had a sequential text file loading into a list box this afternoon, opened the programme a few minutes ago and its not working! The text file was loading first name and surname onto the same line, but now it will only put the first name into it.
