Write Code That Will Control And Read Data From Applications?
Mar 22, 2010
I'm having difficulty figuring out how to run different programs with my VB program. Using Excel and other MS office programs is easy enough since I just add in the relevant COMs, but I can't for the life of me find out how to run other programs. I promise I spent many hours searching before bothering you kind folks here! I'd think this is a common issue so maybe I haven't been searching for the right thing.how to write code that will control and read data from applications.I know you can do "Process.Start" to open any application, and it looks like there are ways to determine the controls available on an open application, but I can't figure out how to do it. Is this possible? Or do I have to import a .dll file for every program I want to control? Or are both possible?
I would like to write a code to read data from .gpx file, but I get stucked with classes: I have a problem with creating working array of objects in object and setting or getting data from it.
I wrote this:
Module Module1 Sub Main() Dim i As Integer
[code]....
but I get always the latest values of points for all slots of array... Lets say we got 3 points as an input: 1. lon: 5, lat: 1; 2. lon: 2, lat: 3; 3. lon: 4, lat:9. I always get the same values for i = 0 to 2... lon: 4, lat: 9.
Trying to emulate a typing application that when typing data in a WPF form, the info gets transferred to another application, such as notepad, word, etc. My first attempt involved using the .Sendkeys method but it doesn't seem to be repeatable 100% of the time. I initially had a button that when pressed would transfer data from a WPF app field to an open notepad app. Again, if I pressed it several times in a row, it would be hit or miss. It's like it hangs up and then after enough time, I try again and it works. I really need it to be 100%. Is there a fix for this method or should I take on a different approach? It would be ideal if I could go from notepad, word, etc. back to the WPF form as well, but I thought I would get one way working first.
I'm VERY new to VB, and haven't coded since the TRS-80 days. I;m attempting to write code to read several NMEA ports and format the data for archive. When I execute the following on a port with the device turned off, the readline instruction hangs. can someone point me in the right direction to handle this exception.
The drive is connected via USB and the problem I'm having is that, periodically, while my code is executing, the usb drive seems to disconnect and reconnect. (Nothing to do with the program, but the drive itself).I want to find a way to prevent these temporary drive reconnects from interrupting my code. IE, i want to insure that whatever read or write that is requested is actually executed even in the case of a temporary drive interruption.
Iam trying to write code that read integer numbers from user (intered in form) and put it in array and then i will do some calcuation.I declare The array z and index of array p at begining of the class (global), I dont specify the size of arry couz that it depend on user.
If CInt(l1.Text) >= 0 Then z(p) = CInt(l1.Text.ToUpper) l1.Clear() l1.Focus()
I am looking for sample code that will allow me to read, write and edit records to a local MS Access DB using VB9.For my project, the datagrid and other controls are not an option.I have looked everywhere and cannot find any code examples.I assume it should be straight forward, but with all the changes in VB9 its tough.
My first question has to do with the opening lines needed in a VB program in order to connect to Excel 2007 and read/write some data from/to it. I know the process only slightly and reading and writing to the cells is not my real concern for the moment. What I need to become familliar with are the lines like this:
CODE:
This is just one of the examples I have read through and to be honest I only follow this slightly. The trouble was that with each new article I read, people did this differently, not the variables on the left mind you, just that some left out lines, which I can see could be done based on circumstances. Still others said the Imports line was not needed....etc...and other loaded up at least 3 or four more Imports lines insisting all were needed.
I'm looking for some straight-forward advice on what is the minimum needed to access an existing Excel spreadhseet and to just read some of it's cells to variables in the code and then writed some data back to certain cells within the spreadsheet and then save and close it.
Also, please note that I am using VB 2010 Express. Why, because I'm a broke developer who spent most of last year out of work. I have a new contract assignment which is so far going well but will go even better if I can master this technique with VB.NET, not VBA. And all the docs I've read said that even though VB 2010 Express is a watered down version of VS, I should be able to do medium level tasks such as this with it.
Can any one tell me how to read or write the control property values that has been saved as ocx state value in the XML? I have some controls. I am assigning a property values for that controls and it is saving as binary64 format. I need to automatically assign property values in the binary64 format in xml.
My assignement is to create a simplistic checkbook organizer. The GUI is built, and the form is needing to call to a transactional class i have created. My problem is I dont know the right commands or syntax. I though I had it, but i'm getting an error.
Error: "Arguement not specified for parameter 'PreviousBalance' of 'Public Sub New (PreviousBalance as Double)'.
Here is my code so far for the form:
Private Sub btnAddTransaction_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAddTransaction.Click 'declare user input variables in this GroupBox2 Dim TransactionAmount As Double
I need to write and read data from a RS232 port. On the RS232 port there is a RFID Card reader-Writer connected. So I need to send hex codes to the device, and have to poll every 1sec if there is a card in the system. If there is a card I need to read the info that is on the card. My biggest problem is I think is that I am not sure how many characters there will be in return after the read command (maybe it is always the same length this I am not sure). What is the right way to read-write to the com port. So I always got the same result and not skipping a code.
how i read data from Sql server and write that in .csv file with vb.net , after that saving the .csv file with my own name and path? what must i do? for information data in sql like this one:
i just write code for application, in which data is get by user and entered data is to print in a particular format?give me a code for vb.net button by which after click on it will print entered data?
what I am trying to do is i have a table with four records and I want to write it to a txt file. I am running sql server 2000.I am able to connect to my database and I am able to right data to a txt file my only problem is it always returns the 1st row of data.
Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C: emp est2.txt" Dim conn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection Dim da As New SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter
I'm trying to "convert" an Access DB to a stand alone application. I have under estimated the differences between VBA and VB. Although I have many questions, I'll focus on this topic first.
The Access DB collects and maintains SNMP traps from a radio station. I import CSV files from a remote Unix server via FTP, parse the text line-by-line, and add to a table as a new record. So far, I can parse the text and add to a dataset but I want to write directly to the data source. I also need error handling that will trap errors for duplicate records. There is a Reconcile function that ensures that all lines in the CSV files are added to the table before the files are permanently deleted. Here's what I have so far:
Public Class clsRnm Private msTrapTable As String Private moTrap As clsRnmTrap
I have a .dll file ( MySql.Data.dll ) that I'd like to be able to open, view and possibly edit the database but I can't find any examples or documentation on doing so.
i've download the 101 Visual Basic and C# Code Samples from downloads/details.aspx?familyid=08E3D5F8-033D-420B-A3B1-3074505C03F3&displaylang=en i was going to learn "VB.NET - Data Access - Read and Write Images from a Database" from that 101. the program is written in 2003 the conversion of the problem to 2005 and 2008 failed.
That code works to read the entry data and to recognise the correct data, and the incorrect. However, even if entry is correct, the error msgbox will appear (x times of how many records there are in file), despite being navigated to the menu. Anyway that the Else isn't triggered when data is correct. Also for it to appear just one instead of (x times of how many records there are in file.)
