Evey time the "bomb" image pops up, the entire thing seems to break. I have trouble shooted this simple game for most of the day trying to figure out where the break is but Ive had little luck. I'll have to post this in multi post because it will not let me post all in one block.

I am using an update panel and when I click a button it will update all the panels. updapanel1.update() is very simple, but my data is not updating unless I hit the button twice. My gridviews shows data for a selected user, and then all the grids reflect that users data. works fine all the update panels work for the gridviews. Now for somereason when i try to do a row count and update the panel with the summary, it does not work, i get either the previous users summary or if i hit update again for the same user i get the correct data.

The code below runs on the click of a button to create a table in a SQL Server database and then runs a stored procedure to update the table. The whole procedure runs and works fine the first time However when I click the same button again and run it immediately after I get a Object reference not set to an instance of an object. exception. Not sure why this is and what to do in this situation.

I've used Visual Basic on and off for years, but for some reason this has never crossed my path, though it's probably relatively simple.
I have a program which runs in the background, in the System Tray. (Which is to say it has a NotifyIcon and is Hiding.) Using the Registy, I've added a new item to the right-click menu for certain files (for example PDF) which reads "Accept".
The goal is to have this open the file in my program and have it run the script. The script itself works flawlessly with an Open Dialog box - all it does is change the "comments" on the file. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it without the dialog box.
i have been looking everywhere for the method used when you click the [X] Button so like that i can run some commands on form exit. I found Form_Unload method replacing Form with the name of my form and no luck. I'm sure there has been some talk on the subject but searching forum shows nothing that seems to work.

I would like to setup this click once application to run as an administrator so the user doesn't need to be in the Administrator group. The program is reading the"C:Documents and Settings" & User & "Local SettingsTemp" folder looking for files with extension like "emf", "tmp" and "htm" and then deleting the files if they are older than 24 hours. We have a third party application that adds these file and doesn't delete them so I need the users to run this cleanup program.

The converted code will then be slightly altered to facilitate its incorporation into a larger project that I'm developing in VB 2008. After using the conversion wizard (which is actually written for VB 6.0), I have 49 unresolved issues -- less than I expected. Much has changed since the days of my prowess as a programmer (Fortran in the 70's), so working my way through even as few as 49 issues will be a challenge, and will (no doubt) take me a while.
The UI for the VB 5.0 code I'm converting is a "virtual remote," with control buttons that (when clicked) trigger communication to a USB-connected device. With assistance, I've been able to develop my own "virtual remote," contained within my VB 2008 project. Eventually, I will "substitute" mine for the original. For now, though, I'm wanting to use MY "virtual remote" to trigger the original.

I am having trouble with a separate program that keeps saying Adobe flash is not installed. And I have tried everything but it still wont go away (that was off topic a bit). I want to create a program that will auto click the words "Click Here" if the error message shows. Because if I click there then it will work normally until it pops up again.

If I already know the PID, then I can retrieve the CreationDate (I assume which I can use to check for restarts? or is this the actual process creation/installation date) for each specific process, however if a restart occurs the PID will change and my script needs to know what the new PID is without me telling it!

I have a situation where I am handling both single & double mouse click events on a form. In both cases something has to be loaded, however when a double click occurs, I do not wish to execute the code attached to the single click event.Is there a way to intercept the mouse click's and check if double or single and then execute the right event appropriately?

I am using Application.Exit(), which doesn't seem to do anything - it just closes the form, but the program is still running. I have been making a text based noughts and crosses game and trying to convert an alpha grid reference into a number to run the logic sequence that decides whether the an input is valid. For some reason I can not get some fields to calculate correctly. It seems anything I enter over 24 in the Pay Rate field it throws it spits out the exact numbers I am trying to multiply. The FWT (0.2), FICA(0.08),and State fields (0.25) respectively.

View 4 RepliesI 'm having no trouble coding, I'm back to my initial printing problems. The program printed Avery labels in a variety of sizes. I created the label templates on 8.5 x 11 forms and then printed the forms. This cannot be done in VB 2008 for a variety of reasons:
1) The form size cannot be larger than the screen size I got around this by creating a new form class that matched my dimensions.
2) printform only does screen shots. This was a major barrier. First of all I can't get printform to print my custom form because it's not a member of system.window.forms.form, it's a class in system.window.forms.usercontrol. However, even if it was in the correct class, it wouldn't work correctly because printform in VB.net, does a screen capture of the form and then reduces the image on the printout.
So that is my dilema. I do not know how to use the reporting tool, but I can see that it must be binded to a database. Although my application does use a database, I want to be able to massage the data before printing it. And the application does more than just print labels. There are also custom reports that need to be printed.
