I am working on my media program which utilizes the amazon ecs web service. So far it does a search and pulls a list of image url's for the dvd covers.
Is what I want to do is take those image urls and somehow feed them into a datagridview, so that the user can scroll through the images and choose the right one.
Here's what I have so far
Code: If item.IsSetLargeImage() Then Dim largeImage As Image = item.LargeImage If largeImage.IsSetURL() Then
In VB.NET, you can set focus to an external application using
AppActivate("Windows Name")
or
AppActivate(processID As Integer)
Now this works fine if you do for example:
Dim intNotePad As Integer = Shell("C:WINNTNotepad.exe", AppWinStyle.MinimizedNoFocus) AppActivate(intNotePad)
But when I do:
For Each theprocess As Process In processlist If InStr(theprocess.ProcessName, "DWG") Then strProcessList += String.Format("Process: {0} ID: {1}", theprocess.ProcessName, theprocess.Id) + vbCrLf AppActivate(theprocess.ID)
[code]....
then it doesn't find the window, even if it's open and even if it finds the window using the window title. But I need it by process ID.How can I do that?I need it to set focus on a 3rd party installer in a windows installer setup project.
I have an application which calls an external process. I would like this process to be open as soon as it is called. i.e. with no user interaction. This is because I would like to send Keys to it to interact.I know how crude this is but this is a thrid party application that my boss has promised will open is a specific way. Dim procSungard As System.Diagnostics.Process = _
I'm reading in a configuration file which is simply a txt file that configures my Com port and sets some directories. It's basically for the end user to set the interface. I want to give the user the ability to change backcolor properties on my NumbericUpDown property. So when I read in the Config.txt file the end user can change coloring on the General Form. In this case the NumbericUpDown. How to assign a variable for color from my string (from my txt file) that I read in.
Essentially what I would like to do is press a button, this then triggers a code to focus on a certain program, focus on a certain textbox and input the text from the clipboard not via pasting.
Now I have been able to achieve all of the above fairly easily except for one crucial component, focusing on the desired component. This program is essentially to automate some data entering for users via hotkeys, therefore I can't simply simulate tabs as it will not always be in the same position. So now comes the question, how do I focus on specific textboxes/controls in other programs?
I've been able to find huge walls of code with no explanation beyond "this is a concept". However no documentation or relevant examples.
I'm trying to set hotkeys for all my favorite websites. When one of these hotkeys are pressed, I want it to load the assigned website in internet explorer, but I want internet explorer to load on my SECONDARY monitor. I've already set out the hotkeys to load internet explorer, but it loads on the wrong screen. How to check if an instance of IE is already running. To be a bit more specific: the secondary monitor is set to the LEFT of the primary one. And the resolution is at 1440 x 900. So basically, I want to programmatically set IE's position to (-1440, 0) from within my application itself.
I am wondering if it is possible to call an application, say "notepad.exe" (among other application's that are already open) and setting focus on the same, so the user can readily start working on it.
I have a picture box on SSRS. I want to load a picture to it, for exam from D:\Pictures\TV1.jpg (actually user will decide it by using OpenFileDialog)I have set the Source to external and in Value expression I tired
="D:\Pictures\TV1.jpg" and Also ="/<d:\pictures>\TV1.jpg"
but my picture box shows error picture in both cases.
I have an open database (dataset) with two tables. It is binded to toolboxes, but I have one field, what I have to calculate about other parameters. I have binding navigator, and I can set field values from controls (eg. toolbox). I can step my rows, with binding navigator. I can update my database. But how can I set field value from code?
I want a code line: database.fields("fieldname") = something - or something like this
I am writing a school project in VB2005 and am trying to hook up a second combo box that gets its information of what to display from the first combo box. My application is where a student takes a "test" but they can choose what instructor they want in the first combo box. From there, they choose from a test of what each instructor offers in the second combo box. As of right now, my first combo box works great and my second combo box has nothing in it. Just a note, when I debug, it shows my iUserID value as 0.
I have a form that allows use the use to change the Email address to be sent to and that is save in a my.setting. my issues is that the Email is in a variable to be used and Dim sendTo As New MailAddress("Email Address")well I cant figure out how would i variablize the "Email address" I tried to place a Variable just says its not a address because it a variable. but it work if i put in a email as a hardcode.
I'm hoping someone can provide me with some help in regards to this, here's a quick overview of what I'm doing: I'm using user32.dll API on a 2 second timer to detect which window is open, FindWindow(), once I've found the window I'm looking for, I use FindWindowEx() to get the child window of the previously found one.
So I've got my window which contains 2 items. An image, and an Input box.
2 questions (Minor, and Major)
Minor: Is there a better way to monitor when a particular window opens?
Major: How would I extract the image that is held on the form? And then insert text into the input box?
Note: The image is variable - it's polled from a website.
is it advisable to play with the controls to make my form look like this or should i just use this graphic and place it in the background. if the former, then please suggest which controls on the form i can tweak to make the form look like this?
I have a web browser with thumbnails on the homepage of recently viewed sites. I can't figure out how to save the images without saving them to a files. I want to save them to either resource files or a setting file;but i can't find a setting type that supports images!
Im trying to set a background image for my Form. The problem is that the form contains textboxes, groupboxes, labels and panels, so I have to manually set the picture for each type of objects. That looks weird though because you can tell that the same picture has been placed a lot of times for each object. Is there a solution to this?

I have a problem when i opened a picture that size image < size picture box How can make the background of the picture box become an image too because my coding was to get the pixel from width and height picture box.. When I found the none image property, vb will show the error.. said coordinate(x,y) was null. It can be illustrated like on the picture above.
Sometimes I will used it when: picture properties - size mode = center image So the picture will found at center height and width.. and the background will surround it. Sometimes I used it after rotating the picture.. The problem occur when the picture get rotate for 45 degree. I am taking all point corners of the image and rotating it. So the picture will create 4 triangle at the corners..

I am using the Microsoft ReportViewer 2005 in one of my VB.NET apps and a couple of users are having image display problems (red X) on the reports. They have the correct version of the WinForms DLL on their system and the app does verify that the image file exists before passing the location to the ReportViewer. This problem was reported on XP and Vista. No other users have reported this problem and it is not something that I can reproduce, so I am stumped. This is a sample file path that is passed to the ReportViewer,
Code:file:///C:UsersRandyDocumentsLisano EnterprisesDerbyDMVImagesUS PresidentsGrantUlysses.jpg My app provides sample images and they can't get these to display either.
We're exporting a set of data using .net interop to Excel and our template file contains some images. Depending on the amount of columns we're exporting we want to position the image X pixels left of the last column depending on the image size/width. Using the record a macro function moving the Image around is a 'no op'. Setting the Shape.Left position also won't work.
directly here is the issue:a "OpenFileDialog" on a windows form is made to choose a picture and then insert it into a rdlc report under VB.net 2008 so i need the exact command to access any picturebox in the rdlc report.
i used to do the job under VB6 as the following:Set ReportName.Sections("SectionName").Controls("Image2").Picture = LoadPicture(fileName)
I wanted to know if it is possible to Zip a folder without any external dll nor any external references - just with native features.I've been able to Zip files with System.IO.Packaging, but it does not include folders and I cannot tell it to Zip the parent folder.I know there are external dll and so, but I'd like to know if it's possible to make it from a native way.
