Jul 7, 2009I wish to create a stored procedure with multiple select statements. In addition, I then want to access each of the statements on the page load event. The purpose of the statements is to create multiple 'counts', and a number of labels on the page will each contain an individual returned count. At the moment I have created a basic stored procedure with two select statements:
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[Finance_CustomerCount]
AS SELECT COUNT(Quote_ID) AS Count1 FROM dbo.generatedquotes WHERE (status = 2)
AND (Contract_End_Date >= GETDATE()) OR (status = 4) OR (status = 7) OR (status = 1)

I can then access the result of the first select statement by using this code:

Jan 11, 2011I have an application that is currently using DAO and would like to move it to ADO.Net. The problem I'm having is that when I do, I cannot do any queries that take variables if the database is Access or SQL Server Compact Edition. For example: SELECT RecipeName FROM tblMasterRecipe WHERE CategoryID = iCategoryID..The database is a local standalone database. Of course if I use the Standard SQL Server I can add parameters just fine using the TableAdapter Query Configuration Wizard. How do I do something similar for Access or SQL Server Compact Edition? The Create new stored procedure radio button is greayed out when the database is Access or SQL Server Compact Edition.

The problems are (1) how to apply the parameters to procName and (2) how to get a dataset returned. I have looked around the net for hours and have found some examples. However, they are all for ms access action (update, delete, etc) queries using ExecuteNonQuery which does not return a dataset.

I've added auto-update capabilities to the software (mostly by using clickonce) to simplify the release of new features.
Every version of the software executes the update routine which may update also the existing database.Lately i've made few changes on the database structure adding few stored queries, so i want the autoupdate code to programmatically add these new queries to the existing database and make it perfectly up to date.
I haven't already found a solution to add stored queries to an ms-access database using odbc...I also tried to use the "CREATE PROC" sql statement but it does not seem to work with access databases, even if i create the query form the Microsoft Office Access front-end.I've found some examples that uses ADODB, but i'm using odbc to remain both x86 and x64 compliant.

Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:
Example (the "@" is the separator):

Has to use the 256 ASCII character codes. The separator will be used to separate the character and its corresponding code.Here are the pseudocodes I have come up with:

DB/Reporting :: Database - Access Denied To A Text File (since It's Stored In The Program Directory In The Program Files)
Sep 20, 2010I have a program where a lot of the required information for it is stored in text files. I simply read this information into large arrays. However, I don't think it's necessary to load all the information each time. Rather, it would be more efficient if I could simply search through a list of items to find the one I need and then use the data from it, or to find a similar name and use it elsewhere.
Would I be right in using a database? And is database programming done in SQL? I have a book on it telling me to use the SQL Server (IIRC), so I shouldn't be doing it in the VB.NET Express GUI?
Here's an example of what I would do:
Hex = 03 00 => dex number 003
Search in file Pokemon Dex Numbers
003 returns Bulbasaur
Check Bulbasaur base stats in the base stats file
etc
So basically I'm reusing a lot of information. I think a database would be best and it would all be internal right? I'm getting complaints about access denied to a text file (since it's stored in the program directory in the program files).
So to cap up the few questions I have:
-Databases are done in SQL and not inside the GUI?
-Databases would load internally?
-I could search a database without having to load it into like an array or something?

Aug 29, 2011I have a stored procedure to update a table, but needs a couple of values from another table.
the first two selects get the value from the table and then are used in the update statement.
The select statments:
Select @iStatusDropDownValueID = iDropDownValueID
From DropDownValue
Inner Join DropDownValueType On DropDownValue.iDropDownValueTypeID =

First, the values that are retrieved by the first two select statements are always the same. So they could be passed in by the code itself. I don't know that this will speed things up at all, just make the entire stored procedure better and easier to read.
Second, if the "Value Name" should change this store procedure will break (which is possible, but not often).
I am looking for any insight into the Best Practices for this situation.

Jul 17, 2009I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden.
