mostly the data inside the datatable is always typed by ourselves, while in this case, i want the computer itself do caculate or whatever and then input in this table and finally the chart will get the data inside the table and then draw the line automatically.is there any sample codes for me to know....(Above is just a simple idea, actually my project is to record the time spent in 2 status(working and idle) and then do the database table. but the GUI should look similar to the image above)
Imports System.Data Imports System.data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Dim con As OleDb[code].....
By this i can fetch only one row(the last row) of the access....how to modify the above code to fetch all the rows starting from the begining from the database..........
This code was posted in Chit Chat and everyone is saying how great it is. I just have Visual Studio 2010 and no familiarity with VB6 so I thought it would be good to convert the code to Visual Basic 2010.
I've seen this great example of serial communication in VB.NET[URL]..I try to use it in a project I am working on but somethings are not clear to me.1: Now the send and received data is shown in one RichTextBox but I would like to split this into two RichTextBoxes (RtbSend and RtbReceived). It is unclear to me how and were data is assigned to the RichTextBox?
2. the received data is shown in the Richtextbox as one long line, I would like to get a new line for every send message. So for example: I I send "test" four times, I would like to see:The example describes that "comPort_DataReceived" is executed when data is waiting in the buffer. Where can I see the eventhandler responsible for this? How does it know data is waiting? The problem is this kind of coding is a bit to difficult for me. I want to understand the code before I implement it into my project. I understand most of the code but this is unclear to me.
When debugging a program and then we take it to a line breakpoint, then I want to modify the code again.but could not and such message appears in the image which I attach. What can we edit code program at the time of the process of debugging. This can be done in visual basic 6 ide?
If I wanted to say, alter the code definition of the automatic property X (at runtime, perhaps in Sub New), such that I could throw the PropertyChanged event
I've written a for loop to generate several new text boxes and numericUpDowns when the application is run.
The text boxes / numericUpDowns are generated with a 2-dimensional array. My question is: How do I handle when the text boxes / numericUpDowns are modified?
If you would like the code, just request it and I'll add it here.
I got the below code from Deborah Kurata one of the msdn moderator on her webpage. Her code is to save the form size at runtime but i would like to modify it to save the buttons which i have dragged and drop. I tried to modify the code but i tend to when i put the Dim theButton = DirectCast(sender, Button) under the form load method. It put there cannot cast object. something like that.
Public Class Form1 Dim tm As New Timer Dim Index As Integer = 0[code].................
SELECT ContactID, FirstName, LastName, Male, Female, Email, Address FROM Contact WHERE (FirstName LIKE @FirstName + '%')
The above query works and returns values on first names that begin with whatever item I type in a text box.
How can I modify that code to search for items containing specified characters instead of just searching for items that begin with the specified characters. I would still need to use a wildcard because it is a search field. see below for an example
For example can I query the FirstName column to display people who's name contain the letters "an" in that order a before n but anywhere within the word e.g.
When I insert a datetime into a datetime field in a SQL Database I only get for example 22/04/2012 06:31:33 instead of 22/04/2012 18:31:33 no matter how I format the field either in Vb or on date time on pc I only get am times
give me the source code to add database connectivity in VB2010 express through ADO.Net. Including all the commands to add, update, delete, retrieve and modify the database fields. It would be really helpful if anyone can provide me with a small prototype working model with the source code.
Once time, me needed to compile the library with different code inside class which determined with prroject wich inherits this library At first I tried in project declare #const and in library to use condition with #const,
I am writing a VB 2008 program to display and update records from a sql database. This particular form is used to display and modify retail store information records from the database. I am running into an issue with saving the records once they have been changed. The error message I am getting is "Update requires a valid update command when passed DataRow collection with modified rows". I am including all of my code for the form because I am not sure what is relevant. I am getting the error when SaveTheEdit() is called on line 83. [code]
I've been into programming, I've landed a job with a local company, the entire project the gentleman is paying me to do is incredibly easy, with one hitch, the original project I'm converting is built using access databases, for efficiency, and easier online transfer, I'm wanting to switch to using an SQL database, I've got plenty of experience inserting, modifying, and controlling an access database, but where should I start to learn how to essentially set up, create tables, and modify data within an SQL database?
Recently, I've changed my job to a biological company, they have huge data but managed by Excel, only by Excel. For example, they have hundreds of orders every month, but they just simply record them by Excel. No database concept is used in this company. Excel to manage this is nightmare, only one person can write the file, others can only read the file by ReadOnly. And these data is very easy to be mistakenly modified.
So, since I come to the above Excel-managed company about one month ago, I cannot stop myself thinking apply database. But I have no programming background at all, only used VB6.0 to create some tiny program in High School. Now I started to think whether I can use VB2010 to do this.First of all, I turn this problem to Access, and I learned a lot database design theory from getting to know Access. However, I finally find out that Access can hardly freely create Form like VB (maybe I didn't find out how)
Anyway, I started to study VB2010, to add DataSet to my Form1, and use DataGridView to display data, and to use TableAdapter to modify data. However, it is quite hard to learn, without any systematic books. For example, I am confused about TableAdapter and TableManger, and I don't know how to simply display a modified DataTable by DataGridView control. And SQL search language is new to me as well.
So, I'm wondering if anyone could recommend me any books based on what I would like to learn? Or any tips and reviews?
I am writing an app in VB2010. My code parses a text file, assigns data to variables My??, and then attempts to store this data in an access 2010 (actually access 2007 format) table. Yet, whenever my code gets to MyRow.Item("Artist") = MyArtist I get an error 5 'Artist' does not belong to Table MyTable, but the field/column does exist in the table as do all the others.
01Dim tbl As DataTable = New DataTable(MyTable) 02tbl.Rows.Add() 03Dim lastRow As Integer = tbl.Rows.Count - 1
I finished my application whith vb2010, this application uses a Access database. I have a problem because when I install my application he put database in de same path "program files" and this path is only read And my application crahed. I know how to installer put database in other path but I don't know how to tell my application to find this database,
I am trying to deploy a VB2010 programme that uses the 2010 Access Database Engine. The programme falls over when starting, with an error trying to access the Database. If I Install the programme on a machine that has Office 2003 installed - still installing the 2010 Database Engine - then it runs OK.Does the Database Engine work?
I am trying to 1) write code in VB2010 that will get a JPG image from a Access Database field and write the image to a PictureBox 2) write code which will write a JPG file to an Access Database field. I have already sucessfully coded this in VB6, without fully understanding what I was doing.
Browsing the various forum's I have come across a few discussions on this subject, but due to my complete amerture status I don't seem to be able to follow the logic.
Below is the VB6 code
Writing JPG file to DataBase: Dim bytBlob() As Byte Dim intNum As Integer
I have a form which will display general data about a branch. Once you select contacts - then the form will display specific into about that branch. I am trying to add a phone number display to the page, but am having a hard time.
