I have a win form with three textboxes that lets the user input information using VB.net 2008. I am wanting the program to send me the information entered (when they hit the send button) as an email and also drop the information entered into an access database.I have the program sending the textbox information as an email.What I am having trouble with is saving the three textboxes to access database. I have an access database set up with a table and three fields for the three textboxes.
All I need to do is each time a user uses the program, it adds the information they enter into the three textboxes to the three different fields in the database. I don't need to let the user view or edit the database in any way.
I am trying to set the proxy username and password. I saw this posting [URL]... and I thought it might be a similar setting for the username/password, such as :
Skybound.Gecko.GeckoPreferences.User["network.proxy.user"] = (user);
Skybound.Gecko.GeckoPreferences.User["network.proxy.password"] = (password);
But, nothing has worked so far.
I am consuming a webservice and need to pass username and password using WS-Security. I need to pass the Username/password in the SOAP Header. However, I need to encrypt it using 3DES encryption using the key provided by a vendor. The language I am using is .Net (1.1) (vb.net).

I'm done with the GUI. but for the programming part, I want to know where to store new user's information along with the username and password. I've done research. seems like it has something to do with database. p/s: I'm looking for high security in storing data to prevent hacking.
View 1 RepliesI've been looking at accessing shared folders, read and write, via the network without being prompted by the OS for the username and password.
On this forum, and googling, I can find many things about accessing network shares, but none using code which also passes the username and password required.
What I'm basically looking for is to not have to map a drive on the users computer. Then using code, write or read files from a network share and at the same time pass the username / password required for that network share.
I have a text box where i am entering numbers of double datatype andon the Keytdown event of the textbox some checks take pace and in certain circumstances I want to be able to stop the user from entering other information until they enter the right information in the textbox (where it says right here) . now when I say exit sub the textbox somehow loses focus . but this is not how I want it to be I want the textbox to remain with the focus so the user can change the information . How can i go about this. And the other thing is why is my txtDestPayRate1.Focus() just befor the exit sub not working?

i have a form that I need to do two separate functions, however about 95% of the code is the same it's just that last 5% so I don't want to create two forms. What I would like to do is when I click on a button to open the form pass it a variable or something so I can determine which of the two buttons were used to open the form.
Basically if Button1 is clicked do this if button2 was clicked do that...
I'm just starting out with vb and am working on a single form project.
Basically I'm trying to take information entered in a textbox on the main forum, Appear in a tab control at the bottom of the forum through the use of a button.
As far as I can tell, I need to code the onclick button portion of it but am unsure about how to pass the information to the specific label in the tab control.
I'm creating temp file to hold and pass information. What is prefered, XML or text files, and why?
View 3 RepliesI am in the process of prototyping a small sockets application, which monitors IT infrastructure (due to in-house financial and deployment restrictions, I am unable to utilise an existing commercial or open-source solution). Basically, I have a server application and associated agent process for communicating heart-beat data to the server. The server application implements a TCP socket class (TCPDevice), which is called from a WinForm. I am aware of the restriction on updating the UI from processes running on separate threads, and that the preferred technique for acheiving this is via the use of Delegates in conjunction with the Invoke method. Having had very little need previously for using Delegates (apart from of course std windows events and the BackGroundWorker control), I am at a loss as to how to do this in the context of my application, and would appreciate some assistance, although it has occurred to me that I could use the backgroundworker for marshalling updates to the UI.
Eventually the application will need to update a grid of devices via feeds from the defined agents, however for the purpose of this exercise simply updating a status bar on the UI will suffice. The section of the code which I believe is relevant to propogating the code to the form is contained in the OnDataReceived method.Below is a code excerpt from the protoype app which should put the above into appropriate context:

I am trying to pass some information from a VB form to my MySQL database. i have named all the textbox's the same as the field in the database and checked all my database fields and textbox names which are all correct. When i try to enter information into a form I sometimes get an error at the .executeNonQuery section of the code.
To test, I outputted the SQLStatement string to a textbox ( which pulled through all the fields from the textboxes correctly) then manually inputted the completed SQL query into the database and it worked. But when I try to do this in one go it seems to fail if there is too much text ( if i enter 'a' into each field it works). Are they limits to the size of the SQL query that can be passed from VB?? all the MySql database fields are set to text with no size limits.

But none of these work for me.

2)Receive this information in SerialPort1_DataReceived.
3)Set this information (integer from 0 to 31) on UserInterface (like cell phone signal level....)

I've created a new datasource dtsLogin containing an ID, username and password. my problem is how can you check if the username & password typed in the textbox are the same as the one on the Access database? I thought maybe using a rowfilter but I'm not that good in ADO.net.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a username database for my program where people create a username when they first open the program and it saves it and uploads their username to an FTP text file.The problem I am having is that I want it to do this and then display ALL users that have created a username on my program and used it in a list on a textbox. I was going to have it do this by having it add all usernames to a text file on my FTP and then have it download the text file of all the users created from the FTP and load it into the textbox on the Form that displays them all.

I would like to store some app data in a 'default system folder', so when I launch the program it will know where to look for it's own settings.As a matter of fact I only need to store there a path to the files used by the program. Users will be able to choose where to put them (simplified installation). The program has to know where to look for them.
Am I creating the folder properly? As you can see I'm referring to C:... The folder structure presented here comes from my laptop running on Windows 7 Ultimate. Maybe the C:... can be somehow defined by some sort of a system 'shortcut'. Following the above example the program would look for those in C:... , but maybe I can use something like ~~ default.app.settings.My Program Name ~~~. How does it work? Have no idea how to call it properly, but I'm sure you will know what I mean.
send a solution for this "update login SET password=@password,username=@username where username=@user"

1) I have a chat Program.
2) To access the Chat Program one has to put in ones Username and password in a Login Form.
3) TextBox1 = Username TextBox2 = Password
4) One clicks the "Log In" button.
5) HERE is the problem. I do not know how to check if the specific username and the password are correct. I have a file called "Users.dat". In there every valid Username(marked with a *) and it's Password(marked with a #) is contained e.g.*Username#Password.
I want my "Log In" program to check if the Username matches one of the usernames and if the username is found in the file, if the password provided is the same as the one standing behind the Username in the file.
6) If both the Username and Password are valid, the Chat Programs shows up.
