VS 2008 Sort Listbox, Save Items And Delete After Date
Apr 13, 2012I am making some kind of calendar where I can add tasks, so I can easily organise my tasks. For it to complete, I have 3 things I can't figure out how to do it:
1. When I launch the program, I want the items in my listbox to be sorted alphabeticly.
2. I want to save the items in the listbox, so if I close the program and reopen it the items are still saved in the listbox.
3. The items in the listbox all start with a date, fe. "13-4" for today. If that date already passed I want that item to be deleted.

Dec 26, 2010I have created a program where I need to add, delete and update, I used a datasource and bound the items to a list. No errors occur and the data set updates, adds and deletes but the database doesn't. I have uploaded my program to a filehosting website as it is larger than 500kb and made the Main Menu the default form, please navigate to the first button or to the AddUpdate form and please help me to see where I have gone wrong. Jun 7, 2010I have some data which is hierarchial in nature which is in an ADO.NEt dataset. The first field is the ID, the second is the Name, the third is the Parent ID.

What I'm trying to figure our is how to get the dataset in the same order that ths would be viewed in a treeview, which in this case is the levels at the appropriate levels for the nodes and then the children at the appropriate levels sorted by the name. It would be like binding this to a treeview and then simply working your way down the nodes to get the right order.
Dataset WriteXml - How To Sort Output
Jun 24, 2010I have some code that creates a dataset from a backend server. I then use the WriteXML method to output it to an XML file. This works fine. But some folks have requested that I sort the output one way or the other (yes, it is easy for them to do so, but they are end users and want the computer to do all their work.) I know I can use .select to extract the data to an array, but I would then have to write that array out to a .XML file. It would be easier (I think) to just sort the data before I output it to XML. I had thought there might be something like dataset.table(0).sortColumn = 2 or something like that, but apparently not.There is only one table and the code will know which columns may be used for sorting.

Save Changes To Dataset And Database?
Jun 6, 2008I'm using the Visual Basic Express edition 2008 and I'm not able to save the changes to the dataset as well as dataset. While the application is running. I can see the changes are made in the table but the moment I close the application and check the data in the Dataset in the right window or the data in the database in the left window, I see no changesI have also tried the Update property of Table Adapter but no use. I have done Endinit, AcceptChanges everything but moment I clode the application no changes are reflected in dataset or databse.

At this point, I want the user to have the capability to save his/her data to some kind of file, email that file to a friend, and have the friend be able to view the same data with the windows forms application. I'm not looking for syntax, just a suggestion of a good way to go about this. Would the best way be to write to an access database and then use sql queries to get it out again? I've had a hard time figuring out how to write a dataset to access via VB.NET.

2. Convert to VB.NET Datasets
3. Manipulate Data in form applicaiton
4. Save manipulated data in some type of file that can be sent to a friend

Mar 25, 2009I am creating an app to grab data from excel and preview in datagrid. From the datagrid I want to be able to save to a sql table. I have the excel data in a gridview via a dataset. What I am having trouble with is the sql statement. I know how to insert data, but I can't work out how seperate the data in the dataset to pass it into individual Values of the insert statement. Or should it be done another way? NOTE: I is not essential that the excel data be previewed in the gridview if this would make life easier for me.

One of the columns in the dataview contains a number that tells me what kind of client it is. I don't my users want that my users have to fill in a number in a textbox, but I want them to choose a item from a combobox. De selected value should be the value that is actually saved in the database.

De Datasource is the information in my combobox. With Databindings I'm trying to bind it to my dataset (or view, that doesn't work either) with clients. Every time I get a NullReferenceExeption. The moment I remove the line cbo.DataSource = dsRelatie.Tables("Relatiesoort"), I don't get an error, but it doesn't work either.
That dataset is filled (I've checked) and also the derived view. The column Relatiesoort exists. What do I have to do to make it possible for my users to choose an item from a combobox and save the selected value to the underlying dataset?
